Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift Job Description This role supports a high-volume industrial manufacturing facility by ensuring that plant facilities and production equipment remain in optimal working condition during the third shift. You will perform scheduled preventive maintenance, respond quickly to electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues, and complete repairs and adjustments as directed by plant leadership and equipment operators. The position requires prior manufacturing experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in an environment with moving mechanical parts, vibration, and elevated noise levels. Responsibilities • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment and plant facilities according to established maintenance plans., • Perform adjustments and repairs to production equipment and plant facilities as needed to minimize downtime and maintain reliable operation., • Respond quickly to electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment breakdowns, diagnose root causes, and complete timely repairs., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 480VAC and 24VDC power circuits, variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, and related control components., • Troubleshoot and maintain communication systems such as ASI-bus, CAN-bus, Profi-bus, and Ethernet-based controls, including PLC input/output cards and safety modules., • Dismantle, repair, rebuild, or replace defective mechanical assemblies to restore equipment to proper operating condition., • Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including reading and interpreting related schematics, to identify and resolve system issues., • Use technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to guide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities., • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status in accordance with plant procedures., • Adhere to SQF and GMP procedures at all times to support food and beverage manufacturing quality and safety standards., • Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of tools, parts, and materials., • Collaborate with plant operators, maintenance leadership, and other team members to prioritize tasks and coordinate maintenance activities with production needs., • Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers regarding equipment status, recurring issues, and recommended improvements., • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to increase equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime., • Train on first shift for an initial period to learn equipment, procedures, and facility-specific standards before transitioning to third shift., • Work rotating Saturdays and adjust to changing priorities and tasks as job demands require., • Handle multiple maintenance tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and adherence to established procedures.Essential Skills, • 3–5 years of previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; 5–10 years of experience is a plus., • Technical training in mechanical and electrical fields., • Skilled in working with electrical systems, including 480VAC and 24VDC power., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, and servo motors., • Experience with communication systems such as ASI-bus, CAN-bus, Profi-bus, and Ethernet, including PLC input/output cards and safety modules., • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings., • Skilled in working with and troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic systems., • Ability to dismantle, repair, rebuild, or replace defective mechanical assemblies., • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as cooperatively as part of a team., • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues and determine effective solutions., • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment., • Effective communication and collaboration abilities with peers and leadership., • Strong attention to detail and consistent adherence to procedures and standards., • Commitment to safety and physical capability to perform maintenance tasks in an industrial setting., • Proficiency with MS Office products and other Windows-based computer systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Associate degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or a similar manufacturing-related specialization is preferred., • Basic welding ability, including MIG and stick welding, is a plus., • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing environments is beneficial., • Creative, innovative, and strategic thinker who can contribute ideas for improving equipment reliability and maintenance processes., • Flexibility to work rotating Saturdays and adjust to changing production and maintenance demands., • Willingness to train on first shift for one to two weeks before transitioning to third shift.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time, third-shift position in an industrial food and beverage manufacturing facility. The standard schedule is an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with rotating Saturdays and flexibility required as job duties demand. Initial training takes place on first shift, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for approximately one to two weeks. The facility is mostly climate controlled and kept clean and orderly due to the nature of the products produced. The work environment includes frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise levels, and you will work around electrical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and automated control systems. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment are required to perform the job safely. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
