The Department of Radiology at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, part of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is seeking a clinical diagnostic medical physicist to join our clinical medical physics group, which provides diagnostic imaging physics services to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and offsite locations. Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC)'s Department of OBGYN is excited to announce an opportunity to join Women's Genetics as a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Genetic Counseling (rank dependent on individual experiences) and research/clinical genetic counselor at CUIMC. Women's Genetics includes a team of genetic counselors and coordinators led by two Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist/Geneticists, a research genetic counselor manager, and a clinical genetic counselor manager. Members of Women's Genetics at Columbia have been at the forefront of discovery and implementation of reproductive genetic technologies for women and their pregnancies. Many of these studies have appeared in leading medical journals, changing obstetrical care and genetics practice. We are seeking a highly motivated Genetic Counselor to support and coordinate reproductive genomics research and provide patient care in Obstetrics & Gynecology, bolstering our overarching goal to be leaders in the translation of genomic medicine into maternal-fetal and women's health. This individual will primarily work with our maternal-fetal genomic research initiatives supported through NIH and through the collaboration between the Department of OBGYN and the New York Genome Center. The individual will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of ongoing research initiatives such as our NICHD funded study of prenatal genomic sequencing in non-anomalous fetuses, the expansion of our fetal sequencing data repository with Broad Institute, and our efforts to keep patients engaged with their sequencing data longitudinally through a grant partnership with Geisinger. The candidate will perform other research related duties as assigned. This individual will also provide clinical genetic counseling services within OBGYN and support a variety of learners such as genetic counseling graduate students, medical students, residents, and fellow through fieldwork placements and teaching as needed. The candidate will identify, recruit, and consent eligible participants; conduct visits as outlined in study protocols and in accordance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) guidelines. They will perform research-related services such as data collection, data entry and transmission, specimen collection, processing and storing or shipment of specimens. They will ensure the appropriate tests, procedures and laboratory tests are completed. The candidate will collect data and complete case report forms for all study visits as required by the protocol and consistent with GCP, FDA/HHS, state and institutional regulations. Successful candidates will work in a multi-disciplinary manner with other CUIMC providers and have the ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the health care team. They will also have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to both work independently and in a team. This represents a unique opportunity for a genetic counselor interested in both the provision of excellent clinical care and supporting research in the expansion and translation of genomics in women's health. A successful candidate will operate in an interdisciplinary and intellectual community at CUIMC. Job Responsibilities: • Develop and implement novel protocols in collaboration with PIs, Co-Is, and the genetic counseling team, • With limited supervision, provide reproductive genetic counseling to a diverse group of obstetric and preconception patients referred due to family histories of genetic disease, abnormal screening results, fetal anomalies, prior affected pregnancies, complex multifetal gestations and those seeking invasive diagnostic testing (CVS and amniocentesis)., • Work as part of a cutting-edge multidisciplinary team including Maternal Fetal Medicine, pediatric specialists, and the Center for Prenatal Pediatrics in the care of patients with fetal malformations., • Coordinate the ordering of and counsel patients on clinical genetic/genomic screens and diagnostic tests, • Screen, recruit, and consent eligible patients for reproductive genomic research studies, • Maintain timely data entry and transmission for assigned research projects, • Maintain IRB protocols for projects assigned by the genomics research manager, • Conduct relevant literature reviews to support new research initiatives as needed, • Conduct intake screening, risk assessment, explain nature and scope of testing procedures, • Communicate results to patients and families, • Attend and participate in professional meetings and directed educational opportunities, and have an active role in the drafting of manuscripts and publication of findings, • Supervise students enrolled in the Columbia University Genetic Counseling Graduate Program during their reproductive fieldwork., • Participate in other educational, research, and academic service programs in the Department in accordance with the wishes of the department chair We are continuously seeking to recruit individuals who will enhance the diversity of our workplace and the effectiveness of our organization. Role Description This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and further expand an established Mohs surgery program within one of the nation's premier academic medical centers. As the leader of the unit, the Director will focus on advanced cutaneous oncology, Mohs surgery and complex reconstruction within a tertiary academic medical center, maintaining a strong commitment to quality healthcare delivery across the Washington Heights and midtown Manhattan campuses, with potential for future expansion to Westchester. The Director will oversee clinical operations of the Mohs unit, while advancing its strategic growth and ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and the academic mission of the MSDO Fellowship. The successful candidate will manage high-risk and complex skin cancers and collaborate with multidisciplinary oncology and surgical teams. He/she will directly supervise the training of MSDO fellows, oversee the dermatology resident surgical curriculum, and mentor medical students and other trainees.
