Job Description Our Organization | Albany, NY The Alzheimer’s Center within our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated and visionary physician to take on the role of Division Chief of Cognitive Neurology and Director of the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease (CEAD). This is an exceptional chance to lead one of New York State’s ten officially designated CEADs and to influence the future of dementia care in the Capital Region and beyond. Why Join Our Team? * Serve a diverse and expanding patient base across 23 counties, encompassing over 2.5 million individuals. * Manage approximately 600 new patient cases and conduct 2,000 follow-up visits each year. * Work alongside a skilled interdisciplinary team, including neurologists, neuropsychologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, social workers, and support personnel. * Benefit from a well-integrated system with strong infrastructure support from our Neurology department and medical center, including scheduling, supplies, research staff, and access to essential departments like radiology and infusion services. * Engage in training and mentoring for medical students, residents, and fellows, with institutional backing for scholarly activities. * Drive clinical innovation by implementing cutting-edge treatment options. A Program with Momentum * The Center is recognized for its expertise, handling around 1,000 new and 2,400 follow-up visits annually. * We generate approximately 2,300 referrals to community services each year, with nearly 40% directed towards caregiver support and education. * The Center provides innovative infusion treatments, including Lecanemab and Donanemab, representing significant advancements in dementia care. * Our infusion treatment program is supported by strong collaborations with radiology, apheresis, pharmacy, lab services, and neurology, highlighting our commitment to team-based implementation of groundbreaking therapies. Strategies for Success * Utilizing our Neurology department for scheduling, facilities, and expert personnel. * Leveraging system-wide partnerships, particularly with radiology and infusion services, to enhance treatment delivery. * Offering research opportunities, including clinical research supported by dedicated staff and grant writing professionals, as well as basic research and lab space through the Department of Neurosciences and Experimental Therapeutics (DNET). * Access to research opportunities via our existing Brain Bank, which includes over 100 donated brains from dementia patients. * Educational and research opportunities through our annual intake of 8 residents and over 140 medical students. * A commitment to attracting and retaining top talent. * Continuous professional development and clinical innovation focused on emerging therapies. * Active collaboration with the NYS Department of Health, the Alzheimer’s Association, and local referring physicians to enhance regional care. What We Are Looking For We are in search of a clinician-scientist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level who is genuinely dedicated to enhancing the lives of patients and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
