Job DescriptionJob Title: Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our team. The primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient and safe operation of machinery while maintaining a clean and organized work area. The role requires attention to detail in handling materials and operating various types of equipment. Responsibilities • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including proper storage of stock and in-process materials., • Safely lift and transport materials using overhead cranes, following all proper rigging procedures., • Position materials accurately on shear or saw tables and securely attach or remove lifting devices such as magnets, chains, and slings., • Identify, select, and retrieve correct materials based on work instructions or job tickets., • Perform and document pre-shift inspections of cranes, chains, and lifting attachments., • Align material to shear blades or saw roller guides and set blade gaps according to plate thickness., • Cut both simple and complex parts with precision and inspect finished parts to ensure all specified tolerances are met., • Finish, package, and tag materials to meet customer specifications., • Document heat numbers on all drops and return them to proper storage locations., • Use measuring tools accurately and consistently., • Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to support workflow and safety., • Follow all safety rules, regulations, and best practices., • Keep work areas and cranes free of debris and potential hazards., • Operate one or more types of equipment, including CNC shear, drill, press brake, burning machine, band saw, or ironworker., • Perform manual lifting and carrying of materials up to 75 lbs., • Carry out physical tasks such as bending, squatting, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and positioning material., • Reach, guide, place, and pry materials as required for production tasks., • Work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and extreme weather., • Maintain awareness of surroundings, including other cranes, workers, equipment, and alarms., • Demonstrate adequate vision to read measuring devices, drawings, and related documentation.Essential Skills, • Ability to read and write to understand shipping documents, company policies, and work rules., • Understanding of simple fractions., • Ability to read a tape measure and make simple fractional calculations., • Ability to climb on/off trucks during loading and unloading., • Ability to stay on feet for the entire shift., • Ability to bend and stoop when necessary., • Ability to lift, pull and push steel when necessary., • Work often requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Skill in troubleshooting and operating CNC machinery.Work Environment This role operates in a sheltered outdoor environment with seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures. You will be required to adapt to a variety of environmental conditions while ensuring safety and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
