Job DescriptionDescription: Job Summary: The Director of Operations is responsible for managing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that programs, facilities, technology, and other operational functions run efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with ON RAMP’s mission. This role emphasizes operational execution, strategic support, and continuous improvement. ON RAMP is a workforce development training organization supported by CenterState CEO as part of the Governor’s initiative to train Central New York residents in advanced manufacturing, construction, and adjacent industries. All Resumes Should be submitted by Friday, October 10th, 2025 Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned) Strategy: • Serve as a key operational leader, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership to support the organization’s vision, mission, and strategic initiatives., • Coordinate core operational areas such as facilities, technology, vendor management, and program operations., • Ensure operational processes are efficient, effective, and sustainable., • Support resource allocation and operational planning in alignment with organizational priorities Leadership: • Support program administration, facilities, and technology staff., • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors as needed., • Contributes to advancing the organization’s strategic principles of business competitiveness, community prosperity, equity, sustainability, continuous improvement, customer service, talent excellence, and brand awareness., • Supports communication with the Board of Directors when necessary, regarding strategic team plans and updates. Supports the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors and other strategic meetings., • Assure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image., • Build a culture of excellence. Operations: • Oversee day-to-day organizational operations to ensure smooth program delivery., • Manage operational budgets related to facilities, programs, and technology., • Oversee organizational risk management, compliance, and non-profit governance in coordination with leadership., • Ensure effective use and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and systems., • Support grant administration processes related to operational compliance and reporting. Administration & Program Support: • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure operational systems meet program delivery needs., • Support technology infrastructure, including software systems and operational tools., • Assist in maintaining operational policies and procedures., • Coordinate with finance and HR leadership to ensure operational alignment, • Provides guidance and service to affiliate organizations., • Supports in addressing employee challenges/conflicts – interpersonal and otherwise., • Responsible for overseeing organizational risk management, compliance, and non-profit governance., • Responsible for processing, grant administration, compliance, reporting, work of grant life cycle; reviewing applications ensuring funds are used appropriately., • Leads the organization’s annual budget process., • Responsible for design of organization investment strategies., • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Program Officer develops and maintains strategic business plans, proformas, and operating strategies for all the organization’s teams and core lines of business., • Support establishment and implementation of short- and medium-term departmental goals related to human resources, finance, and temporary facility operations., • Support the management of shared services agreement with CenterState CEO. Competencies: • Strong organizational and project management skills., • Ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally., • Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities., • Clear, consistent communication with staff and stakeholders., • Ability to adapt and respond to evolving operational needs., • Works with the corporate leadership team and the Board of Directors to expand, retain, and attract business opportunities in a manner that maximizes the region’s competitive advantages., • Attends board and executive committee meetings., • Develops, maintains, and tracks teams’ activities using innovative software., • Responsive to internal and external key stakeholders., • Collaborates and works as a team to solve problems., • Develops and manages team’s budget., • Seeks ways the team can develop new revenue streams., • Provides staffing support to ON RAMP’s Board of Directors’ committees., • Acts as a brand ambassador., • Clearly, consistently in alignment with the executive leadership team, communicates with staff about policies and practices, updates, major projects and developments., • Leads weekly team meetings., • Practices community engagement through partnerships, participation, and alignment with ON RAMP’s events, events of core partners and other activities. Requirements: Supervisory Responsibility: Manages and supervises team, including writing annual performance evaluations and ensuring staff training and professional development. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm but can be flexible as agreed to by the Chief Executive Officer. Travel: Minimal travel is expected for this position. Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, public administration, nonprofit management, industrial engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or similar) preferred. Minimum of 5–7 years of operational management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated success in overseeing facilities management, supporting program operations, managing technology systems, and coordinating vendor relationships. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead teams, improve processes, and ensure operational excellence. Special Requirements: This role requires one to be able to manage discrete information, have excellent communication, and people skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people. A high standard of professional and ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability is required. Fluency in Spanish a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Excellent technical skills and proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other software, as necessary., • Personal Effectiveness/Credibility., • Thoroughness., • Collaboration Skills., • Communication Proficiency. Physical and Mental Requirements: • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work, verbal communication, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading., • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push and/or pull up to 20-pound loads at a time relative to event-based equipment., • Must be able to sit for long periods of time., • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
