Job Description Project Manager, Transmission & Distribution Design Coordination Description Location: San Diego, California. Candidate must currently reside in the San Diego County region or must be willing to relocate within sixty (60) days of hire. Hybrid work model: 60% on-site as needed, 40% remote. General Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of gas and electric utility projects. Projects are in and around in high-voltage substations and overhead distribution lines. The incumbent in this role will efficiently meet project safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals, while managing internal and external stakeholders across multiple business units. This position will work with multiple departments and processes to support work execution, problem solving, planning, and process improvement. The Project Manager will proactively lead and facilitate teams through issues and is responsible for the efficient execution of work items and conditions of the areas in which they are assigned. Supervision Level: Reports to Manager, Transmission and Distribution Program Delivery. Responsibilities: • Manages and oversees all aspects of a project to ensure it is completed on time and within budget., • Responsible for managing scope, cost, schedule, vendors, and contractual deliverables., • Develops detailed project plans, monitors project milestones, and generates status reports., • Evaluates and manages risk; incorporates quality measures and standards into project deliverables., • Manages several project workstreams., • Directs project progress and establishes administrative guidance on project execution., • Monitors project budgets and develops monthly variance reports., • Qualifies and quantifies project issues and risks and develops response plans to resolve., • Understands current and future business goals and ongoing concerns., • Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience: • Project Manager I: A minimum of 3 years of project management experience., • Project Manager II: A minimum of 5 years of project management experience., • Experience with managing small through large-scale system protection projects from inception through completion., • Experience working in a regulated utility/energy, DOE, DOD, or equivalent environment., • Experience with electric transmission and distribution or civil construction projects., • Knowledge of NERC and FERC standards, including G.O.95, regional requirements, policies, and procedures., • Understanding of principles and practices of electrical design and planning specific projects., • A strong business aptitude, with knowledge of research methods, including data collection, analysis, and critical thinking., • Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost management, budget forecasting, and risk qualification, quantification, and mitigation., • Experience managing multiple stakeholders, scheduling demands, and ad-hoc requests., • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; skillset will be evaluated prior to engagement., • Research methods, including data collection, analysis, critical thinking, and problem solving., • Project planning, scheduling, cost management, budget forecasting, and risk qualification, quantification, and mitigation., • Principles and practices of project management as defined by Project Management Institute (PMI) or accredited standards., • Agile and Scrum project management methodologies., • Safe working practices, building codes, and regulations applicable to the assigned projects., • Work well under pressure., • Influence others and convey complex project and program deliverables concisely., • Change Management, Scope Management, Stakeholder Management, Technical Project Management., • Fit/Gap Analysis., • Project Administration, Project Controls, Project Documentation, Project Implementation., • Project Lifecycle Management (PLM), Project Planning, Project Scheduling, Project Scoping., • Budgetary Controls., • Bachelor’s degree in project management, computer engineering, business management, or equivalent field; equivalent experience with customer approval. Physical demands are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. In delivering projects, the incumbent will work in and around high voltage, energized electric equipment. • Sit or stand at a desk and use a computer workstation for up to 6 hours per day., • Reach and use hands and fingers to feel objects or controls., • Climb stairs and walk on uneven or unpaved surfaces., • Traverse inclined or rough terrain. Salary: The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $125,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in San Diego, CA. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
