We are looking for an exceptional functional-medicine nutritionist who is or is eligible to become a licensed nutritionist in Maryland and other states, and has with at least three years of concentrated experience in providing clinical nutrition services to clients. About the Role As the Health & Wellness Specialist (Functional Medicine Nutritionist), your primary role is to advance client and team wellness by designing and implementing programming and providing expert one-on-one nutrition guidance and wellness coaching. You will provide exceptional clinical expertise, cultivating a culture of investment in personal wellness, among successful entrepreneurs and their families, and among our team members. The ideal candidate takes initiative, efficiently and confidently serves our clients, collaborates as a team player, and embraces their responsibility as a subject matter expert in their field. The individual will need to understand the complexity of the growing and shifting needs and priorities, in our dynamic and entrepreneurial culture, and be agile and flexible in managing their workload. While this position requires clinical skills, a significant portion of your responsibilities are also non-clinical. The ideal candidate is a proven writer and confident presenter, and enjoys translating health information via newsletters, virtual presentations, in-person presentations, social media, and other written and live formats, with the support of a marketing team. The candidate is also excited by supporting the various special events we throw, such as our Annual Client Retreat, and other events that pertain to health & wellness. Candidates seeking for a 100 percent clinical position do not align with this role. This role is based in Houston, TX or Bethesda, MD. We work in the office a minimum of four days per week, with the option to work one day from home per week. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned functional nutritionist. What You’ll Do Client Experience • Provide one-on-one nutrition and/or health coaching sessions (depending on the need) for entrepreneurial families and our team, with supervision and support from the Director of Health & Wellness. Utilizes expertise in clinical nutrition (e.g., longevity, metabolic health, gut health, stress handling), health coaching, lab test analysis (blood chemistry and functional testing), and macro- and micronutrient analysis., • Determine and provide the appropriate level of support a client may need – ranging from medical nutrition therapy, to health coaching, to a referral for outside care., • Support the Director of Health & Wellness in providing services to additional families by assisting with follow-up note preparation, research, lab test analysis, and supportive resources., • Maintain timely and accurate session notes in Practice Better (our HIPAA-compliant client records portal)., • Maintain communication with clients to support momentum in between one-on-one sessions and increase awareness of our Health and Wellness webinars., • Build and maintain therapeutic trust with clients and have a proven track record of establishing immediate rapport., • Lead team Health & Wellness breaks focused on nutrition and wellness topics you love, such as fitness/movement, mindfulness, healthy snacks, quick meal prep, and nutrition for mental health. Brand Ambassador / Public-Facing Content • Contribute to, develop, and present thought leadership content, such as our Health & Wellness webinars and health & wellness newsletter. Ensure your work aligns with an evidence-based approach., • Participate in business development to support the growth of the firm, such as by sharing about the health and wellness platform to prospective clients, and helping to identify founders in the health & wellness space who may be suitable as clients. What You’ll Need • Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely associated field, with commensurate certification (such as a CNS) and demonstrated experience in health coaching. Eligible to become licensed in Maryland and other states. Institute for Functional Medicine Certification a plus., • Proficiency with interpreting nutrition-related lab data, such as from Genova Diagnostics and other functional labs., • 2+ years of experience within health and wellness in the public or private sector, in a client-facing role., • Ability to multitask, thrive, and adapt in a dynamic, demanding environment. Ability to initiate and complete projects with minimal oversight., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency with Practice Better is a plus., • Proven track record of strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to succinctly explain complex ideas., • Maintenance of all required continuing education, licensure, certifications, and insurance, as applicable and required by state law, with associated expenses covered by Pennington Partners.
