Job Description The manufacturing maintenance mechanic is a member of the maintenance department responsible for preventative maintenance on industrial production equipment including ensuring operability, reliability and correct working order of related safety devices and systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, power transmission and related equipment, • Ensure completion of Preventative Maintenance schedules for fire safety, e-lighting, eyewash stations, production and facility equipment., • Maintaining, repairing, and lubricating machinery and equipment, • Physical structure repairs; pipe and simple electrical systems maintenance., • Working with engineering, this position will assist in installation of new equipment and processes., • Communicate issues and statuses to other departments as necessary and coordinate work that impacts production schedules to minimize negative impact to the schedule., • Perform repairs and PM tasks routinely; documenting tasks which are not documented for future reference, • Research, recommend, and maintain spare parts inventory as directed, • Document all departmental and contractor work in maintenance software including costs and explanation of issues, • Assist in the installation of capital equipment, • Coordinate outside vendors as directed to perform specified work including electrical, HVAC, roofing, cleaning, and specialized equipment repairs or overhauls, • With instruction, set up and operate machine tools, such as lathe, surface grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate simple machine parts, • Utilize or operate ladders and scissor lifts and work at higher elevations using appropriate safety equipment and practices., • Safely operate a forklift on the job floor., • As needed follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties, projects as requested by Manager REQUIREMENTS / BACKGROUND: • 5 years of mechanical experience with industrial equipment required, Ability to run a Bridgeport, lathe and/or other machine shop equipment preferred, • Mechanical or machining trade or vocational education training, and/or facilities/industrial maintenance work experience, • Electrical experience within an Industrial setting, • Able to read blueprints and schematics/wiring diagrams, • Basic knowledge of large HP mechanical drive systems, including gear box reducers, belts, pulleys, chains and sprockets., • Working knowledge of pumps, valves and piping, • Ability to follow direction and work in a safe and effective manner, • Basic computer literacy, • Preferable skills include;, • Basic welding skills, cutting, tacking and joining, • Carpentry skills fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, walls and other wooden structures, • Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor, climb ladders and stairs, Constantly exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force to move object, frequently exert 25 to 50 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 to 100 pounds of force, • Visual Acuity: Near acuity, with or without, accommodation is required for reading machine dial gauges, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of equipment, • Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action SKILLS, TRAITS AND COMPETENCIES: • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage prioritization of duties, • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, • Proficient when responding to inquiries, • Diligent with details and high level of accuracy, • Ability to problem solve and consciously looking toward continuous improvement in role COMPANY / POSITION INFORMATION: We're 21st century artisans - utilizing state-of-the-art technology and old-world craftsmanship to provide precision metal bars, pre-production blanks and material preparation services to companies machining high precision components for a host of industries like medical device and automotive - helping them achieve success through streamlined operational excellence.
