American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: OR - Operating Room, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/12/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 10 hours, days, • Work in the Operating Room of an acute care hospital, • Level I trauma center and Magnet hospital, • Covers all service lines except cardiovascular (CV), • Required to scrub in on general, trauma, neuro, ortho, plastic, transplant, and urology cases, • Handles specialized procedures including laparoscopic cases, complex neuro and ortho surgeries, organ donation, and trauma, • Uses Cerner EMR (experience preferred), • Day shift schedule (4x10 hours, 6:45–17:15), • Weekend shift required one per month, • On-call required approximately once a week (may vary), • Floating within skill set may rarely occur, • Scrubs provided, • Parking permit required, provided at no cost, • Block scheduling not accommodated, • Applicants must live at least 50 miles from the facility, • Responsible for circulating and scrubbing across diverse surgical cases except cardiovascular, • Works in a high-acuity environment as part of a multidisciplinary perioperative team, • Orientation provided at the start of the assignment, • Must adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and universal procedures, • Requested time off is subject to manager approval, • Assignment at a facility with 23 OR rooms and 562 beds, • No local candidates accepted\n \n Requirements\n, • Active IL RN license in hand or proof of application, • Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CNOR preferred, • Minimum of 3 years recent OR nursing experience required, • General OR and Level I trauma experience required, • Bariatric laparoscopic case experience required, • General surgery experience with appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedures required, • Neuro (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), orthopedic (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reductions), plastic (free flap, microvascular), transplant (organ donation), urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), and trauma (amputations, GSWs, MVAs) case experience required, • Competency in code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, and malignant hyperthermia management required, • Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables required, • Knowledge of blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (timeout), and urinary catheterization required, • First-time travelers not accepted\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
