Job Description Job Title: Traveling Electrical Project Manager Project Location: Iowa (Data Center Project) Salary: $125,000 – $160,000 annually Position Summary The Traveling Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of large-scale electrical construction projects, with a primary focus on $20M+ data center projects. This role requires frequent travel and close coordination with field leadership, general contractors, owners, and internal support teams. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager or Director of Operations, the Electrical Project Manager oversees project schedules, budgets, procurement, subcontractors, and contract administration while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Essential Functions • Manage the full lifecycle of large-scale electrical construction projects valued at $20 million or more, from preconstruction through closeout, • Develop, maintain, and control project budgets, cost reports, cash flow projections, and monthly cost-to-complete forecasts, • Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution in coordination with Superintendents and field leadership, • Review and manage contracts, scopes of work, change orders, and subcontract agreements, • Track labor productivity, material costs, and equipment usage to ensure projects meet financial and schedule targets, • Coordinate procurement of major electrical equipment, materials, and prefabrication efforts to support project schedules, • Oversee RFIs, submittals, change order requests, and documentation in collaboration with field and VDC/BIM teams, • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, inspectors, and key stakeholders, • Lead OAC meetings, project coordination meetings, and internal project reviews, • Ensure compliance with NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, contract requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations, • Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities typical of data center projects, • Collaborate with safety and QA/QC teams to enforce company safety standards and quality expectations, • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize cost, schedule, and performance impacts, • Mentor and support Superintendents and field leadership to promote accountability, productivity, and team development, • Prepare and manage project closeout documentation, including as-builts, O&M manuals, and final financial reconciliation Core Competencies • Project Leadership & Ownership – accountable for scope, schedule, and financial outcomes, • Financial Management – budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and change management, • Planning & Scheduling – critical path scheduling, look-ahead planning, and milestone tracking, • Client & Stakeholder Communication – professional, clear, and proactive communication, • Risk Management & Problem Solving – anticipates issues and drives solutions, • Safety & Quality Leadership – promotes a safety-first, quality-driven culture, • Cross-Functional Collaboration – works effectively with field, estimating, VDC/BIM, purchasing, and executive teams, • Technology & Reporting – proficient in construction management software and digital reporting tools Required Education & Experience • 8–12+ years of experience in electrical construction with progressive responsibility into project management, • Demonstrated experience managing electrical projects valued at $20 million or more, • Experience on large commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects; data center experience strongly preferred, • Strong understanding of electrical construction means and methods, • Proven ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget, • Advanced knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) and familiarity with NFPA 70E, • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, one-lines, and BIM/VDC coordination models, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar, • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, • OSHA 30 preferred Physical & Travel Requirements • Ability to travel extensively and work onsite as required by project demands, • Ability to navigate active construction sites and participate in field walks and inspections, • Ability to work extended hours or off-shift schedules when necessary for project milestones Compensation & Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000–$160,000, based on experience, project size managed, and market conditions.
