Job DescriptionPosition Title: School Custodian Reports to: School Principal and Director of Facilities and School Safety Salary: $21 to $ 25 per hour Position Overview: The School Custodian provides custodial services at the assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. The School Custodian is an important part of the FLACS family, working to ensure the readiness of FLACS schools. Under the supervision of the building's Principal, Head Custodians, and Network Supervisor who will provide an annual evaluation. Key Responsibilities: • Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment while adhering to maximum safety procedures., • Move books, files, boxes, furniture, etc., • Clean and sterilize all high-use areas to reduce the spread of bacteria and any other harmful agents., • Travel to nearby schools or warehouse/storage as required., • Perform maintenance of the building, such as drywall repairs; minor carpentry; classroom furniture; replacing light bulbs, & fixtures; painting projects; ceiling tile replacement; playground maintenance, athletic areas, grounds repairs; equipment audits, building inspections; safety issues, repairs; small landscaping projects; additional items as they arise., • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions., • Maintain exterior of the sites, including snow/ice removal, trash removal, etc. as needed, • Carry a handheld radio at all times while on school property if assigned by the Supervisor, • Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies., • Report and assist with all emergencies as needed., • Uphold the FLACS’ mission, core beliefs, and educational philosophy., • Reflect on their practice and be a lifelong learner to improve effectiveness and guide professional growth, • Engage and collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations., • Display evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player, • Minimum high school graduate required with continuing education construction or facilities related preferred but not required., • Very good physical condition and strength. Job Description Key Responsibilities • Perform minor maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting tasks., • Conduct routine inspections of apartments, lobbies, hallways, and common areas to identify maintenance needs., • Respond promptly to service requests, ensuring timely and professional completion of all assigned work orders., • Handle preventative maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, fixture checks, caulking, and grout repairs., • Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in safe working condition., • Assist with apartment turnovers, including cleaning, patching, painting, and fixture replacements., • Coordinate with vendors and contractors when specialized repairs or projects are required., • Communicate effectively with residents, supervisors, and building staff to ensure work is completed to satisfaction., • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to all safety protocols. Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in residential maintenance, facilities, or construction trades., • Strong working knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry)., • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively., • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
