Job Description Business Unit: HPN – Airside Operations Reports To: Airport Operations Supervisor/Airside Operations Manager FLSA Classification: Non‑Exempt Job Category: Regular, Full‑Time Primary Work Location: On‑Site, Westchester County Airport Country: USA Job Summary Under general supervision, this position supports the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the airport in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The role performs a wide range of airfield operations, including compliance inspections related to safety, security, and the environment. In addition, Airport Operations Coordinator performs weather reporting, emergency response, snow/ice removal operations, and provides direct support to aircraft operations and airport users. The position works rotating shifts, operates specialized equipment and emergency response vehicles, maintains required operational records, and responds to routine and emergency situations. This position reports directly to the Airport Operations Supervisor. Candidates must possess a degree in aviation or a related field, or equivalent experience in airport or airline operations, and be able to meet all training and certification requirements. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications, including but not limited to a valid CDL Class B, FAA/NWS ASOS weather observation authority, and security credentials, as well as the ability to perform physically demanding work, operate specialized vehicles and equipment, and work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Essential Job Functions • Maintain and operate the Airports Unicom Base Station, issue aircraft advisories, and render assistance in the directing and parking of commercial services and private aircraft. Update and maintain all required pertinent records on the computer-based Airport Operations Daily Log and assist in providing professional services, • File Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and update airfield conditions on computer-based programs, • Drive and operate specialized aircraft emergency response fire fighting vehicles and respond to all aircraft alerts, • Provide proper augmentation to the Airports Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), post hourly METAR aviation weather reports and issue special weather observations when significant weather conditions exist, • During periods of snow and ice removal, under the direction of a supervisor, drive and operate all major airport snow removal equipment. Perform tasks at the Snow Command Desk, file Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and update airfield conditions on computer-based programs, • Perform airport security inspections and video monitoring under requirements of TSR1542. Respond to any unauthorized entry of persons or vehicles on the ramps and AOA, • Responsible for maintaining the airport safety under FAR Part 139 and reporting any discrepancies to the Airport Operations Supervisor, • Maintain equipment and working environment in clean, neat and orderly condition Employee uniform shall be maintained and properly worn while on duty, • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Airport Operations Supervisor, • Maintain attendance and performance at required training functions, • Maintain strict adherence to FAA Part 139, TSA security requirements, and airport operating procedures., • Demonstrate constant situational awareness in an active airfield environment, identifying and reporting safety discrepancies., • Communicate clearly and professionally with pilots, supervisors, emergency responders, and airport stakeholders., • Operate specialized airport vehicles, emergency response, and snow removal equipment safely and effectively., • Respond calmly and decisively to aircraft alerts, emergencies, and rapidly changing operational conditions., • Accurately observe, document, and report weather conditions, including METAR observations and special reports., • Perform security inspections and monitor access to AOA and ramp areas, responding appropriately to unauthorized activity., • Maintain accurate operational records, logs, and NOTAMs using required computer-based systems., • Function effectively during adverse weather, emergency events, rotating shifts, and high-pressure situations., • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and professionalism, including proper uniform standards and attendance., • Participate fully in required training, drills, and certification programs, maintaining operational readiness. Education & Experience • Minimum high school diploma or GED required., • Four-year degree in Aviation preferred, • Acquire all licenses or certificates required by regulatory agencies., • Meet the required training criteria under FAR, Part 139., • Possession of a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL class B)., • Possession of the National Weather Service “Certificate of Authority to take METAR Weather Observations”., • Pass Company test pertaining to Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139., • Pass bi-annual fire brigade physical., • Maintain adherence to the Airport Environmental Management System (“AEMS”)., • Meet or exceed the required training criteria under the Airport Environmental Management System., • Meet or exceed required security training and performance criteria as mandated in the Federal Approved Airport Security Plan., • Must be at least 18 years of age., • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s US license., • Work flexible schedules: evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime., • Able to work in extreme weather conditions., • Maintain required airport/airline clearances and certifications., • Demonstrate the ability to perform under pressure, work in extreme weather conditions, and have physical stamina for lifting and working long shifts, • Noise and jet blast awareness, • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team., • Experience in aviation, transportation, logistics, or airport operations., • Strong communication and customer service skills., • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship., • Must comply with airport credentialing requirements to work in secure areas., • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach while performing operational and inspection duties., • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment and materials weighing up to and exceeding 75 pounds., • Requires sufficient visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and hearing to safely operate vehicles, observe airfield conditions, and respond to emergencies., • Ability to work for extended periods outdoors in extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and high-noise environments., • Ability to safely operate specialized airport vehicles, emergency response apparatus, and snow removal equipment.
