Job Description Job Title: Gas Meter Inspector Job Description We are seeking dedicated Gas Meter Inspector to join our team. This role requires individuals who can maintain a professional demeanor while entering customers' homes and have a strong level of mechanical ability. This is an entry-level position with a focus on reliability and professionalism. Responsibilities • Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters for corrosion and/or damage., • Complete all necessary documentation and document inspection findings in compliance with regulatory requirements., • Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections., • Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys., • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Ability to walk, climb stairs, and ladders during an 8-hour workday in all weather conditions., • Mechanical aptitude and customer service orientation., • Ability to interface with technical services, government agencies, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors., • 1+ year of driving experience., • Consistent job history with professional experience., • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills. The company is committed to a 36-month program, with inspections required every ten years, ensuring job stability and career longevity. Work Environment This is a 100% field-based position requiring flexibility to travel within the utility territory, primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. Training will commence with OSHA orientation followed by in-class training with a set schedule, homework, and practice exams. The first 90 days are a probationary period. Standard operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with potential shifts on Saturdays. Equipment provided includes a simple tool set, flashlight, gas detector, field binder, ID badges, tools/tool belt, handheld tablet, FR shirts, pants, safety vest, and hard hat. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Island City, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
