Greenwood Industries is looking to hire an experienced Safety Manager covering Eastern New York. The Safety Manager's responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Responsibilities & Duties: • Travel to job sites to conduct detailed safety inspections, • Excellent working knowledge of OSHA regulations, • Develops and conducts employee safety and health training programs, • Manages project security contracts, programs, and policies, • Performs record keeping functions, • Conducts incident and injury investigations, • Writes detailed injury reports, • Completes all appropriate company safety program documents, • Monitors construction safety program administration, • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of safety, • Performs other duties as required Qualifications: • A clean, valid driver’s license is mandatory, • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in a Safety position, • Degree in Safety Management preferred or relevant field, • Ability to conduct oneself professionally in a business setting, • Exhibit strong organizational, time management, and detail-oriented skills, • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Proficient in PC programs, and VMS for bidding on projects and project compliance, • Union commercial construction experience is preferred, • Asbestos Safety Experience required, • Ability to travel to job sites over state of MA with some regional travel required Additional experience: • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, USACE standards., • Ability to perform training in multiple disciplines., • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with all team members., • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines., • Leadership skills and experience motivating and developing team through constant feedback PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS • Must be able to work in environmental factors that include noise, dust, hot weather, and cold weather., • Ability to lift 25 pounds, • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and gangways on a frequent basis and be able to work while standing on a continuous basis., • Ability to safely work aloft (heights over 20’) including ladders, man lifts, harnesses, equipment tops and scaffolding. Job Description Project Manager (Queensbury, NY, Potsdam, NY, Fulton, NY, or Watertown, NY) Job description Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Project Manager will plan, organize and direct engineering activities to optimize hydropower facilities throughout New York State. Responsibilities • Manage the design, specification, cost, construction and commissioning of capital improvement projects., • Prepares tendering documents, reviews and comments on bid packages to ensure design adequacy and constructability., • Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation. Plan and prioritize budgeted work for implementation., • Provide engineering support to operational staff to improve reliability and performance., • Manage internal and external engineering resources to develop documents needed for construction and permitting., • Provide field inspection of all work in place to ensure that work performed is in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, regulatory requirements and applicable codes., • Conduct pre-bid and preconstruction meetings with multiple contractors., • Recommends corrective courses of action to management as issues arise., • Apply the Brookfield Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures to all projects. Manage contracted work within the requirements., • Provide cost control and monthly spending forecasts on assigned projects., • Ensure engineering records from assigned projects are properly stored for future reference. Requirements • Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects., • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and to manage concurrent projects., • Good negotiation skills with clients, contractors, and vendors., • Effective oral and written communication skills., • Demonstrated ability to view tasks logically, break them down into essential requirements, and generate a solution to meet the project goals., • A practical, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and solution-focused approach to issues. Qualifications • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering required., • Professional Engineers license not required but is desirable., • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in progressive experience in project engineering., • Core knowledge of construction techniques, construction/project management, and basic contract administration., • Ability to travel within New York State., • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. May include reading, repairing, and installing water meters., • Maintain community pool(s), tests chemical levels, and adjusts appropriately, where applicable., • Follow safety procedures while performing duties, including safely operating vehicles when moving from site to site and picking up supplies., • Other duties and special projects as assigned. Required Skills/Experience: • At least 2 to 3 years of groundskeeping/maintenance experience, required., • Highschool Diploma or GED, required., • Current driver's license, required., • Demonstrated knowledge of and broad experience in general maintenance., • Experience supervising maintenance roles, preferred., • Customer service experience with the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with residents, guests and co-workers., • Proficient in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery., • Certified pool operator (CPO) or willingness to become a CPO, • Able to work outdoors throughout the year., • Must be within commuting distance from the property.
