About the Role KRE is seeking an experienced and driven Associate Area Manager to support operations at Journal Squared, a flagship 1840-unit, multi-tower residential community in Jersey City. This role serves as the second-in-command to the Area Manager and plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily operations, driving financial performance, developing teams, and ensuring an exceptional resident experience across one of KRE's most high-profile assets. What You'll Do: Operational Leadership • Support oversight of daily operations across a large-scale, multi-tower residential community, • Serve as a senior point of contact for on-site teams, residents, and vendors, • Ensure consistent execution of company policies, procedures, and service standards, • Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accountability, • Oversee compliance with city and state regulations (inspections, registrations, certifications), • Support preventative maintenance programs to protect asset performance Team Leadership & Development • Partner with leadership to support, mentor, and develop on-site teams, • Reinforce performance expectations and service standards across departments, • Assist with hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management, • Support leadership development of mid-level managers across a ~65-person team Financial & Performance Management • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and expense management, • Analyze property financials, including P&Ls, variances, and KPIs, • Identify opportunities to improve NOI through operational and financial efficiencies, • Oversee key financial controls such as collections, invoice approvals, and payroll review Leasing Partnership & Resident Experience • Partner with leasing teams to ensure smooth move-ins, unit readiness, and resident onboarding, • Support occupancy, retention, and renewal strategies through strong operational execution, • Assist with resolving escalated resident concerns and maintaining service standards Cross-Functional Coordination • Collaborate with maintenance, leasing, and corporate teams to ensure operational alignment, • Support capital projects (CAPEX), vendor management, and major initiatives, • Oversee programs including amenities, parking, events, and common area standards, • Assist with implementation of systems, SOPs, and operational tools (Yardi, etc.) What We're Looking For • 5+ years of progressive experience in residential property management; high-rise and large-scale asset experience strongly preferred., • Demonstrated leadership experience supporting teams within complex, multi-department operations., • Strong financial acumen with experience reviewing budgets, P&Ls, and performance metrics., • Process-oriented mindset with the ability to identify gaps and implement improvements., • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills., • Proficiency in property management systems (Yardi preferred)., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods, work on a computer, conduct property site visits throughout NJ, walk property grounds, climb stairs, navigate construction areas, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Work Environment This role is primarily based in a professional office environment in Jersey City, NJ, with regular on-site property engagement. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required based on operational needs. Is This You?
