Job Description WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING A SENIOR TECHNICAL DESIGNER AND PATTERN MAKER AT OUR DOWNEY, CA LOCATION OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION As a Senior Technical Designer, you will partner with Design, Product Development, and Production to ensure fit and construction are at the highest level of quality standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Create and maintain proto tech packs (for full package), from design sketches that ensure first proto samples meet design’s intent on styling, fit, quality, and construction., • Collaborate with the design team to develop initial specs for each new season. Provide constructive feedback and dialogue during the handoff stage., • Tech packs to include detailed construction sketches and instructions, tolerances, graded measurement specifications, how to measure sketches on an exception basis, BOM, and any special handling instructions., • Daily communication with import and domestic vendors addressing all questions and concerns., • Attend and lead weekly fittings for all samples from proto, through production fit stages., • Provide fit comments that include technical direction on how to improve the fit and construction of a garment. Review patterns provided by vendors and give suggestions on pattern adjustments where needed., • Provide accurate patterns to cutting and sewing departments. Work with in house cutting and sewing teams to execute samples., • Provide pattern and garment measurements for non-full package styles on pattern card., • Maintain all grading, construction, how to measure, and procedural standards., • Escalate any requested design changes that impact standards, cost or aesthetics from the samples to Management and Production team so that cost analysis can be accomplished & change can be addressed., • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE EDUCATION • Bachelor’s Degree in Design / Apparel Engineering / Pattern Making, or equivalent training combined with work experience.EXPERIENCE, • Work experience in the apparel industry in a Technical Design and Pattern Making - MINIMUM 10+ years for Senior level., • Expert in pattern-making, sewing, and garment construction, • Must have experience in all categories woven, knits, and sweaters, • Accumark 8.2 (Gerber), • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), • Photoshop preferred, but not required, • PDM experience preferred, but not required At the Company’s inception, James’ mission was to bring an elevated look and feel to unique baseball caps and basic tees.
