Job DescriptionDescription: Cancer Center of South Florida is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Vice President of Communications to build and lead the enterprise communications function at a pivotal time of organizational growth, brand evolution, and market expansion. POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President of Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the enterprise communications strategy in alignment with organizational growth priorities and institutional direction. This role serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, ensuring initiatives, decisions, and priorities are translated into clear, consistent, and high-impact messaging that strengthens organizational alignment, brand positioning, and market visibility. As the organization’s senior communications leader and sole communications team member, this role requires a highly hands-on, execution-focused professional who is equally comfortable building strategy and delivering the work. The Vice President establishes communication governance standards, messaging frameworks, and enterprise cadence structures that promote consistency of voice and reduce fragmentation across all entities and platforms, while directly producing and executing communications deliverables across channels. The role leads internal and external communications efforts including executive messaging, media relations, reputation management, and crisis communications to enhance organizational credibility and stakeholder trust. Additionally, the Vice President oversees digital communications strategy, brand and environmental messaging, and market intelligence initiatives to support differentiation and growth, and designs scalable communications infrastructure and operational frameworks that sustain long-term organizational effectiveness and future expansion. Success in this position requires a balance of strategic vision and operational execution, with the ability to independently manage priorities, produce high-quality communications assets, and implement initiatives without reliance on a supporting team. CORE ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develops, implements, and oversees an enterprise communications strategy aligned with organizational growth priorities, ensuring executive initiatives, institutional direction, and strategic priorities are translated into clear, consistent, and actionable messaging that advances organizational alignment, brand positioning, and market visibility., • Serves as a strategic communications advisor to executive leadership by developing and delivering executive messaging, organizational announcements, presentations, and high-visibility communications that ensure leadership voice, institutional priorities, and strategic direction are communicated with clarity, consistency, and enterprise impact., • Establishes and maintains enterprise communication governance standards, messaging frameworks, and cadence structures that ensure consistency of tone, voice, and positioning across all organizational platforms, reducing fragmentation and reinforcing institutional identity across affiliated entities and locations., • Designs and leads a comprehensive internal communications framework that effectively disseminates leadership priorities, operational updates, and strategic initiatives, strengthening organizational transparency, workforce engagement, and enterprise alignment., • Leads the development and execution of external communications and media relations strategies, including press communications and public announcements, to enhance organizational reputation, elevate clinical and research visibility, and position the enterprise as a regional and industry leader., • Partners with executive and system leadership to plan and support crisis communications response efforts, ensuring timely, accurate, and coordinated messaging that protects organizational credibility and sustains stakeholder trust., • Monitors market dynamics, competitor positioning, and brand perception trends, translating insights into communications strategies that strengthen differentiation, inform leadership decision-making, and support growth initiatives., • Leads and actively execute enterprise digital communications efforts, including direct management of website content, governance, and social media strategy, ensuring content accuracy, brand consistency, and strategic alignment while utilizing engagement analytics to strengthen digital presence and audience reach., • Leads, develops, and implements organizational branding and environmental communications related to program launches, facility expansions, and institutional announcements, directly producing and managing messaging and visual content to ensure consistent brand identity across all physical and digital environments., • Designs and implements scalable communications processes and operational frameworks that support enterprise growth, organizational complexity, and long-term function sustainability, including oversight of external vendor partnerships as needed. Requirements: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred., • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare communications, public relations, or strategic communications., • Experience within an academic medical center or specialty service line environment preferred., • Accredited in Public Relations (APR) Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) preferred, • Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) or Communication Management Professional (CMP) Global Communication Certification Council / International Association of Business Communicators preferred, • Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) American College of Healthcare Executives preferred, • Demonstrated ability to effectively represent the organization and engage senior leaders and stakeholders with professionalism, credibility, and sound judgment., • Strategic mindset with the ability to operationalize communications initiatives, balancing long-term vision with hands-on execution., • Ability to translate complex organizational initiatives, clinical programs, and strategic priorities into clear, compelling, and actionable messaging for diverse audiences., • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment., • Data-informed decision-making capability, utilizing analytics, engagement metrics, and market insights to guide communications strategies and measure effectiveness. This position operates in a hybrid work model, allowing for a combination of remote work and onsite presence. The selected candidate must reside in the state of Florida and be available to work onsite at Cancer Center of South Florida locations as business needs require.
