Job DescriptionBeyond Karate — More Than a Dojo Beyond Karate is a community enrichment center supporting children, teens, and adults of all abilities. We provide inclusive programs that nurture physical strength, creativity, confidence, and life skills—meeting each participant where they are and supporting growth on and off the mat. Our offerings include martial arts fitness, self-defense, creative workshops, life skills coaching, leadership work training, tutoring, seasonal camps, and family coaching and advocacy. Staff Assistant Company: Beyond Karate Location: Santa Monica, CA Schedule: Part-Time Pay: $17.87–$20.00 per hour Employment Type: W-2 Reports To: Program Manager / Owner About the Role Beyond Karate is seeking dependable, compassionate, and adaptable Staff Assistants to assist across all programs we offer. This is a general support role designed to help instructors, staff, and participants in a variety of settings including martial arts classes, life skills development, tutoring, leadership workshops, enrichment activities, and seasonal camps. Our programs serve children, teens, and adults of all abilities, including individuals with physical, developmental, and learning differences. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting structured activities, and contributing to a positive, inclusive community environment. Key Responsibilities but not limited to: Program & Activity Support • Assist instructors and staff across all programs including karate, life skills, tutoring, social circles, leadership workshops, art, cooking, and enrichment activities, • Support seasonal camp programming by assisting counselors with daily activities, transitions, and supervision, • Provide support and supervision to participants of all ages and abilities, • Encourage positive behavior, participation, and engagement, • Assist participants as needed while maintaining dignity, respect, and inclusion, • Help ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environmentOperations & Team Support, • Assist with attendance tracking and participant check-in/check-out, • Support classroom, dojo, and camp setup and clean-up, • Follow all safety, accessibility, and behavior guidelines, • Communicate observations, concerns, or needs to instructors and leadership, • Participate in training, meetings, and program preparation as requiredQualifications, • Experience working with youth, adults, or individuals with disabilities is a plus (but not required), • Positive attitude, patience, and adaptability, • Strong communication and teamwork skills, • Reliable, punctual, and professional, • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain), • Inclusive, mission-driven work environment, • Flexible part-time scheduling, • Paid training and ongoing support, • Opportunities to grow into instructor or leadership roles
