Job DescriptionDescription: Classification: Non-Exempt / Full-Time Little Scholars is hiring for both Los Angeles and Long Beach sites. This position is a Temp-to-Perm role. The selected candidate will be contracted through a staffing agency. After a successful 90 day evaluation period, the hiring site may offer the opportunity to transition into a permanent position. Position Summary: Little Scholars Academy, a state-funded preschool and afterschool program, is dedicated to providing children with a nurturing, high-quality early learning environment. We are seeking a passionate, highly skilled Lead Preschool Teacher and Director to lead our small but impactful intercity programs and ensure compliance with ECERS standards, which guide quality and environment improvements in both preschool and afterschool settings. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: • Serve as the lead educator and program director, creating a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive learning environment for preschool and afterschool students., • Oversee adherence to ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale) guidelines for quality standards in classroom design, interactions, and program structure., • Manage the daily operations of preschool and afterschool programs, including staff scheduling, training, and development., • Act as the primary liaison with families, ensuring open communication and engagement to support each child's learning and well-being., • Curriculum Development & Implementation:, • Plan and oversee lesson plans aligned with The Creative Curriculum, integrating ECERS best practices into daily routines and activities., • Conduct DRDP (Desired Results Developmental Profile) assessments twice a year to evaluate and support child development., • Utilize ECERS to ensure appropriate indoor and outdoor spaces, routines, and materials to foster creative and constructive play., • Ensure compliance with Title 5, Title 22, and all other California licensing regulations for preschool and afterschool programs., • Monitor and implement strategies to maintain high-quality ECERS ratings, including supervision, communication, and access to resources., • Prepare and review CACFP paperwork weekly to ensure compliance with nutritional and attendance reporting., • Conduct regular ECERS evaluations to assess and improve physical classroom environments, materials, and learning interactions., • Train staff to meet ECERS benchmarks for activities, health and safety, and relationship- building practices., • Foster partnerships with families, schools, and community organizations to enhance resources and opportunities for children., • Organize family engagement events, such as Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, field trips, and workshops, to encourage collaboration and support., • Mentor and supervise staff, providing training in ECERS standards, DRDP, and Learning Genie tools., • Guide staff in creating clean, organized, and stimulating learning environments., • Permit: Valid California Child Development Site Supervisor or Program Director Permit (required)., • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in preschool and afterschool program leadership roles, with a strong understanding of ECERS and SACERS standards., • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)., • Expertise in DRDP, ECERS, NAECY, and other assessment and quality improvement tools., • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (required)., • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills., • Implement ECERS standards to create high-quality environments that support learning and development., • Actively engage children in both structured and free-choice activities to foster their creativity and critical thinking., • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain compliance with DRDP, ECERS, and state program requirements., • Inspire a culture of kindness, patience, and professionalism in all interactions with children, staff, and families., • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability in all aspects of program management.
