Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Social Media and Website Producer plays a vital role in CNPS’s Public Affairs team, which is a multidisciplinary team leading the organization’s external and internal communications, digital strategy, government affairs, public engagement, partnerships, and publications. Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Affairs, this position is responsible for CNPS’s social media presence, website content, and digital assets, serving as a creative, multimedia content creator; digital technician; and online reputation manager. The ideal candidate is an innovative storyteller, skilled technician, and strategic thinker with exceptional project management skills who will thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Physical Requirements This job requires prolonged sitting and using a computer and mouse. It may require participation in field trips on uneven trails with variable grades. Location This is a full-time (40 hours/week) hybrid position open to residents of California. The role offers flexibility to work primarily from a home office, or the organization’s central office. Applicants should reside within approximately 100 miles of Sacramento to attend weekly in-person meetings. Additional Information • Work hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM., • Work collaboratively with the Public Affairs team to develop social media strategy and direction for strategic campaigns., • Create and publish daily content across CNPS social media channels, strategically aligned with campaign and content calendars., • Use social media channels to develop collaborations, reinforce partnerships, and strengthen bonds with other organizations and individuals to advance our mission and values., • Develop creative, dynamic stories through multimedia, including reels, carousels, memes, trending video and audio, and more., • Monitor social media direct messages, feeds, and comments; respond to or triage questions or comments as needed in a timely manner., • Film and produce video for social media and other CNPS communications aligned to CNPS campaigns and strategic goals., • Produce regular analytics reports on social media engagement with analysis and recommendations., • Provide guidance and training on social media best practices to CNPS staff and chapter volunteers., • Responsible for CNPS multi-site WordPress account administration with CNPS website contractor., • Provide strategic input for website development, structure, and content management., • Serve as the liaison for CNPS Chapter websites, providing training and solutions for the WordPress platform., • Manage a change request ticket system, providing ongoing website updates as needed in collaboration with staff and contractors., • Lead and implement website improvement projects; guide high-level decisions regarding website functionality and digital assets., • Produce and contribute to website content as needed, with a focus on multimedia content., • Manage a digital asset management system for CNPS Public Affairs photos, graphics, and videos., • Digital Strategy & Content Experience: You bring at least 6 years of experience in digital storytelling, content creation, or related fields. You understand the strategic differences between popular social media platforms and how to tailor content for each., • Technical Proficiency: You are fluent in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, and social media scheduling platforms. You are an experienced user of Google Analytics, social media insights, and sentiment and social listening tools. You’re also comfortable using project management tools like Asana and Microsoft Project, and Planner., • Process Driver: You are proactive with a can-do attitude, a self-motivated problem solver, and excited to make a difference for the native plant mission. You’re an experienced digital media expert with a record of strong results., • Creative Storyteller: You have a strong visual and narrative sense, with the ability to craft compelling multimedia stories in fresh and effective ways using reels, carousels, memes, and short-form video. You also know how to translate complex concepts into engaging, accessible formats., • Strategic Communicator: You possess excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills. You can adapt content for different formats and audiences, and you understand how to use analytics to inform strategy., • Project Leader: You have demonstrated experience managing complex digital projects tied to strategic initiatives, including websites and asset libraries. You’re highly organized, systems-oriented, with demonstrated experience working with social media editorial calendars and strategic plans., • Community & Reputation Manager: You have experience managing online communities and responding to public engagement in a timely, thoughtful manner. You understand the importance of tone, timing, and transparency., • Expertise working in communications with a nonprofit or membership-based organization., • Experience managing budgets, developing and implementing policies, and working on cross-functional teams., • Fluency in Spanish or other languages widely spoken in California., • Familiarity with CNPS, California native plants, or plant communities., • Compensation: A starting annual salary between $76,876 - $82,845.
