Job Description Job Title: Assistant Superintendent Reports To: Project Superintendent / Senior Superintendent Location: Project Site(s) Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Assistant Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent in the day-to-day management of on-site construction activities for large-scale commercial projects. This role is critical to maintaining schedule, quality, safety, and coordination among subcontractors, inspectors, and project management staff. The Assistant Superintendent leverages construction technology and digital tools to support efficient field operations, documentation, and communication. Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Construction Management • Assist the Superintendent with daily on-site supervision of construction activities., • Coordinate and monitor subcontractor work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards., • Support implementation of the project schedule, including short-term look-ahead planning (2-week and 4-week schedules)., • Track work progress and assist in identifying and resolving field issues, conflicts, and constructability concerns. Construction Technology & Digital Tools • Utilize Procore for daily logs, observations, RFIs, submittals, punch lists, photos, and field documentation., • Use Bluebeam Revu to review, mark up, and distribute construction drawings and field sketches., • Assist with maintaining accurate, real-time project documentation within construction management platforms., • Support adoption and consistent use of field technology by subcontractors and site staff., • Help maintain daily manpower counts, productivity tracking, and activity logs using digital tools., • Assist in sequencing work activities to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime., • Identify potential schedule impacts and escalate issues to the Superintendent and Project Manager promptly. Safety & Compliance • Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations on the jobsite., • Participate in daily safety huddles, toolbox talks, and safety inspections., • Utilize safety modules within Procore or similar platforms to document incidents, observations, and corrective actions., • Ensure subcontractors comply with site safety requirements and project safety plans. Quality Control • Support QA/QC efforts by monitoring workmanship and materials., • Assist with inspections, testing coordination, and punch list management using digital punch list tools., • Verify that work is performed in accordance with approved submittals, drawings, and specifications. Coordination & Communication • Serve as a liaison between subcontractors, inspectors, design professionals, and the project team., • Assist with coordination of inspections, deliveries, site logistics, and temporary facilities., • Participate in subcontractor coordination meetings and progress meetings, using digital reports and dashboards when applicable. Documentation & Reporting • Maintain accurate daily reports, photos, as-built markups, and field records using construction management software., • Assist with tracking RFIs, field directives, and change-related work within Procore or similar platforms., • Support preparation of field-related reports for project leadership. Project Closeout Support • Assist with punch list completion, final inspections, and turnover activities using digital closeout tools., • Support closeout documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, and as-built records. Qualifications Education • High school diploma or GED required., • 3–7 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with a general contractor., • Proficiency in Procore (Daily Logs, RFIs, Submittals, Punch Lists, Photos, Safety, and Reports)., • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for drawing review, markups, takeoffs, and field coordination., • Experience with additional construction technology platforms such as PlanGrid/Autodesk Build, BIM 360, MS Project, Primavera P6, Fieldwire, or similar tools preferred., • Comfortable using tablets, mobile devices, and cloud-based systems in a field environment.
