Job Summary The XR/CT Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures including standard radiographs (X-rays) and computed tomography (CT) scans to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. Supervises None Supervisory Responsibilities None Duties & Responsibilities * Operate diagnostic imaging equipment including X-ray machines and CT scanners to perform ordered examinations. * Prepare and properly position patients for imaging procedures following physician orders and established imaging protocols. * Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide reassurance to ensure patient comfort and cooperation. * Administer contrast agents when required for CT procedures in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols. * Monitor patients during imaging procedures for safety, comfort, or adverse reactions to contrast agents. * Follow radiation safety practices and protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self. * Perform quality control checks, equipment calibration, and routine maintenance of imaging equipment. * Review diagnostic images for quality assurance before submission to radiologists for interpretation. * Maintain accurate documentation including imaging logs, contrast administration records, and electronic medical record entries. * Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and clinic staff to coordinate imaging studies and ensure efficient workflow. * Assist with patient scheduling and coordination of imaging services when necessary. * Participate in continuing education to maintain professional competency in radiologic and CT technology. * Assist in mentoring or orienting new imaging staff or supporting cross-training initiatives when applicable. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Compassionate, high quality cardiovascular care will be met by assuring that the needs of the patients, physicians, and other health care providers are accomplished in a timely and courteous manner. You will join a team of a four other PAs and an NPs. Essential Responsibilities: • Perform comprehensive medical history and complete physical exam in the office and at the one local hospital., • Establishes a diagnosis, formulates a plan of care, evaluates the response to the plan, and revises the plan as needed, collaborating with or referring to physicians as needed., • Collaborate with cardiologists in managing acute and long-term medical needs of the patient., • Order appropriate diagnostic tests, treatments, medications, and referrals., • Coordinate discharge and follow-up., • Monitor and provide continuity of care between patient visits., • Assists with diagnostic studies as required, including nuclear studies, echo-stress, and cardiac stress., • Must be registered or certified physician assistant. The work rotation would consist of 5 mid-levels. • One midlevel is scheduled to the hospital. This rotation is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday. There is discussion to give this rotation a day off either before or after the rotation, • The hospital rotation moves to the hospital discharge position, for continuity of care. This rotation updates the incoming hospital person about the patients. This rotation begins at 8:00 a.m. until noon, discharging the patients in the hospital, then comes to the office at 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. seeing patients., • The discharge position the next week moves to the office, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hospital Rotation: take phone calls for the cardiologists from the hospital nurses/hospitalists/other physicians, round patients, monitor stress tests (at the hospital), etc. There is no night call or weekend call, everything is during the day. Office Rotation: Patients are scheduled 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 (subject to change), with an hour for lunch, with the day ending at 5:00 p.m. There are normally approximately 16 patients scheduled to the midlevels. Patients are annual visits, follow up, post hospital discharge, complex patients, implanted device interrogation and possible Telehealth. Office midlevels also handle remote implanted device follow-up (pacemakers, defibrillators, implanted loop recorders), The RNs of the practice are the liaison between the patients and the midlevels. The RNs forward labs, messages, reports, etc. that are outside of their scope of their license for the midlevels to manage and direct the nurse, the nurse then contacts the patient. If interested, the physicians would appreciate their rotating to the one-day remote outreach clinics. There is an additional stipend for doing outreach. The specific locations would be Rawlins, Wheatland, Gillette, and Riverton. I think previously this was one or two days a month. Essential Functions • Receive patient(s) and prepare for provider appointments according to departmental procedures, • This includes obtaining and recording patient’s vital signs and chief complaint, • Immediately notify provider of abnormal vital signs (i.e., low or elevated blood pressure, low or elevated heart rate, low 02 saturation, difficulty breathing, bleeding or hemorrhage, decreased level of consciousness), • Appropriately communicate to the provider, instructions to patient(s) and serve as patient advocate to provider, • This includes contacting clients regarding abnormal laboratory or diagnostic values and relay provider instructions accurately, scheduling/rescheduling appointments per provider instructions, effectively representing patient health care needs and concerns to the provider and returning patient’s phone call(s) in a timely manner, • Perform laboratory and other tests in conjunction with approved departmental protocols, • This includes demonstrating competency in performing blood glucose testing, urinalysis, rapid strep testing, fecal occult blood testing, and urine pregnancy tests; properly instruct patient in specimen collection, such as clean catch urinalysis and sputum specimen collection; demonstrated competency in phlebotomy skills; and perform ECG, updraft treatments, oximetry and 02 set up and administration, • Maintain equipment and supplies as necessary for patient care including maintaining adequate supplies to perform patient exams and procedures, ensure that exam rooms are set up appropriately for providers to provide appropriate care to patients and place orders through the assigned staff member, for equipment and/or supplies, • Provide documentation of all patient interactions in client’s electronic medical record to include recording of vital signs, chief complaints, and other appointment specific information in the patient’s electronic medical record; record all telephone interactions with clients in electronic medical record, record all prescription refills for clients in the electronic medical record as ordered by provider and record all other pertinent and client-specific information in the medical record, • Perform other related duties assigned to include following guidelines established at time of assignment, accept willingly, prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of assignment, ask appropriate clarifying questions relative to scope of assignment, and participate in training of other CMA students as assigned Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
