Job Description Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Job Description This role offers an opportunity to work in a high-volume, automated refill pharmacy environment where you will accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests under the supervision of a pharmacist. You will prepare, package, and distribute medications in a fast-paced production setting while maintaining a consistent workflow to meet daily production goals. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy, and the flexibility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Responsibilities • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules by reading computer-generated screens, locating the correct merchandise on labeled shelves, verifying the size and strength, and using basic mathematical reasoning to count or calculate the appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions., • Replenish medications in automated dispensing cells to full capacity by opening large quantities of bottles and cases, using a handheld scanner to scan product barcodes, and entering expiration dates and lot information into the computer application while maintaining a high level of focus to avoid cross-contamination and performing quality assurance checks for expired or damaged products., • Complete weekly cycle counts as assigned by the inventory department, including auditing cell inventory and counting product at primary and secondary bin locations, and assist in researching and identifying root causes of inventory discrepancies as needed., • Prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions by following special handling and packing requirements to ensure product integrity and patient safety., • Assist with packing and shipping prescriptions, following federal and state HIPAA regulations and pharmacy standard procedures to protect patient privacy and ensure safe and accurate delivery., • Demonstrate effective problem resolution skills by recognizing issues, addressing them promptly, and escalating concerns to management when appropriate., • Maintain continuous, consistent workflow to meet daily production goals while working efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Essential Skills • High school diploma or equivalent experience., • Active California Pharmacy Technician license (required)., • At least 1 year of pharmacy experience in a retail or customer service setting; experience must be paid work and should not include externships or training only., • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment., • Ability to read and interpret computer-generated prescription screens and locate medications on labeled shelves., • Basic mathematical skills for counting and calculating appropriate quantities of medication units., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot issues early and accurately., • Analytical thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes and evaluate possible solutions., • Sound decision-making skills to choose the best course of action under pressure., • Effective communication skills to clearly convey issues and solutions to stakeholders and team members., • Escalation management skills, including knowing when and how to escalate problems appropriately., • Time management skills to resolve issues promptly and meet production goals., • Understanding of and adherence to federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard operating procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • PTCB national certification (preferred)., • Experience with automated dispensing systems and handheld barcode scanners., • Prior experience handling cold chain and specialty medications (preferred)., • Demonstrated ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team., • Comfort performing repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy., • Strong problem resolution skills, including identifying issues, proposing solutions, and collaborating with leadership as needed., • Reliable transportation to be onsite according to the required schedule., • Interest in potential temp-to-hire opportunities leading to permanent employment., • Alignment with a culture that values high employee engagement, community involvement, and continuous improvement.Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of West Sacramento, CA.
