Job Description International Production Cook - Halal Cuisine Specialist | $22.00/HR | Philadelphia, PA Location: Philadelphia, PA (Airport Area) $22.00 per hour Full-Time | Immediate Openings Now hiring experienced Halal Cuisine Production Cooks for a large-scale airline catering operation serving international and domestic flights. This position specializes in the preparation of Halal meals for airline customers and requires candidates with professional experience preparing Halal cuisine in a commercial kitchen environment. We are seeking seasoned production cooks with strong experience preparing Halal proteins, vegetables, sauces, starches, and specialty menu items in high-volume kitchens. Successful candidates will understand Halal food preparation standards, authentic flavor profiles, ingredient handling requirements, and production cooking techniques. This is not an entry-level cooking position. Candidates without prior commercial kitchen experience preparing Halal cuisine may not be a fit for this role. Pay & Schedule • $22.00 per hour, • Full-time position, • Preferred Shift: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM • Schedule may vary based on production needs and flight schedules., • Weekend, holiday, and overtime availability may be required. What You'll Do • Prepare authentic Halal meals and menu components according to customer specifications, • Cook proteins, vegetables, starches, sauces, and specialty items using approved recipes and production methods, • Follow Halal food preparation, handling, and production standards throughout the cooking process, • Ensure proper handling and preparation of Halal ingredients and finished products, • Maintain authenticity, consistency, and quality of Halal menu offerings, • Follow detailed airline menu requirements and presentation specifications, • Maintain production timelines to support strict flight departure schedules, • Operate commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, steamers, and fryers, • Ensure all food meets quality, consistency, and portion standards, • Follow FDA, USDA, HACCP, and company food safety regulations, • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, • Assist with menu presentation and food production activities as needed, • Support team members in a fast-paced production environment Physical & Work Environment • Standing, walking, bending, and stooping throughout entire shifts, • Regular lifting of moderate to heavy products, • Fast-paced, production-focused kitchen environment, • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated areas, • Strict adherence to food safety and sanitation requirements, • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality standards Requirements Please apply only if you have recent commercial kitchen experience and familiarity with Halal cuisine preparation. • Minimum 2 years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen strongly preferred, • Strong line cook or production cook experience required, • Experience preparing Halal cuisine in a commercial kitchen environment strongly preferred, • Experience with vegetable preparation, knife work, protein cooking, sauce preparation, and batch cooking, • Working knowledge of Halal ingredients, cooking methods, and food handling practices preferred, • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, • Basic math skills, • Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and menu specifications, • Strong knife skills and knowledge of kitchen tools and equipment, • Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, steamers, and fryers, • Knowledge of HACCP, USDA, FDA, and food safety practices, • Experience in airline catering, hotel kitchens, commissaries, banquet production, institutional food service, or high-volume restaurants strongly preferred, • Professional appearance and positive attitude, • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Direct experience preparing Halal meals in a commercial food production environment, • Experience with Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, South Asian, or other Halal-focused cuisines, • Understanding of Halal food standards and ingredient requirements, • Experience working with international menus and diverse culinary traditions, • Airline catering experience is a plus Preferred Backgrounds Candidates with experience in the following environments are encouraged to apply: • Commercial Halal Food Production Operations, • Airline Catering, • Hotel Kitchens, • Banquet Production, • Institutional Food Service, • Large Commissary Operations, • High-Volume Restaurant Kitchens, • Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, or South Asian Restaurants Important Applicant Note This position is intended for experienced production cooks who have hands-on experience preparing Halal cuisine in commercial kitchen environments.
