American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ED - Emergency Department, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/05/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, evenings, • Position is in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital, • Assignment covers both adult and pediatric ER populations, • Mid-shift hours are 3:00 pm to 3:30 am, with evening and night shifts required, • Must work every other weekend and cover 2 out of every 3 holidays, • Floating to Pediatric ER is required as needed, • No block scheduling; flexibility with scheduling is required, • Adult ER features 18 beds and 10 moderate care reclining chairs; Pediatric ER has 5 beds and 5 reclining chairs, • Caseload includes minor walk-ins, critically ill adults and pediatrics, respiratory failure, STEMI, CVA, trauma, burns, psych holds, and substance abuse cases, • Nurse-to-patient ratios include ICU 1:2, peds 1:4, adults 1:4, and procedural sedation 1:1, • Cerner is the charting system in use, • Assignment is 13 weeks in length, • All candidates must be able to work with both pediatric and adult emergency populations, as roughly half of patient volume is pediatric, • The department is a STEMI, CVA, burn, and pediatric receiving center with high patient volume, • Team-oriented environment where all members, including EMS, are valued and treated respectfully, • Orientation is provided, including 12 hours and education sessions with ER educator, • Scrub color for RNs is navy blue, • Travelers will be first to float if needed, • Must be able to pass assigned EKG and procedural sedation curriculum testing during orientation, • No previous full time, part time, or PRN employment at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year\n \n Requirements\n, • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration, • Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience required, • Experience with both adult and pediatric ER patients is required, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS, • Basic EKG interpretation skills required; critical care RNs will have additional testing, • Ability to float between adult and pediatric ER as needed, • No travel teams or duos accepted; individual travelers only, • First-time travelers will not be considered, • References required from one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility, • Copy of driver's license required for consideration\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
