Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Porter/Dishwasher to join our opening team in Williamsburg. This role is essential to maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of our café. You will be responsible for dishwashing, sanitation, waste management, and overall facility upkeep, ensuring all operations meet health and safety standards. This is an ideal role for someone who is proactive, takes ownership of their work, and values being part of a collaborative team. Dishwashing & Kitchen Support • Operate dishwashing station efficiently during service and closing, • Clean and sanitize all kitchen tools, cookware, utensils, and service ware, • Maintain organization and cleanliness of dish area at all times, • Support kitchen and front-of-house staff with cleaning needs during service Cleaning & Sanitation • Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors and surfaces regularly to prevent hazards, • Perform daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning tasks according to schedule, • Complete opening and closing cleaning checklists consistently, • Maintain strict adherence to all health, safety, and food handling regulations Facilities & Maintenance • Maintain bathroom cleanliness, restock supplies, and update cleaning logs, • Monitor and maintain overall café cleanliness (FOH, BOH, storage areas), • Prepare laundry for service (wash, dry, fold, organize towels, rags, uniforms) Waste Management & Compliance • Sort and prepare trash, recycling, compost, and cardboard according to NYC regulations, • Coordinate with waste management vendors for timely pickup, • Manage relationships with trash, grease trap, and extermination vendors, • Ensure all required sanitation and extermination documentation is current and visible Inventory & Supplies • Monitor stock levels of cleaning and sanitation supplies, • Submit purchase requests to maintain adequate inventory Qualifications • Prior experience in a porter, dishwasher, or cleaning role preferred (but not required), • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organized, • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) food safety and sanitation standards, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50lbs, and perform repetitive tasks What We’re Looking For • A self-starter who takes pride in their work, • Someone who understands that cleanliness is foundational to hospitality, • Dependable, punctual, and consistent, • Team-oriented with a positive, respectful attitude, • Aligned with our values of community, culture, and care Schedule & Compensation • Part-time positions available, • $17/hr, • 3 Days/Week, • Competitive hourly pay, • Opportunities for growth and full-time hours Why Join Casabuela? • Be part of an opening team building something meaningful from the ground up, • Work in a culture-centered, community-driven environment, • Opportunities to grow as we expand, • A workplace rooted in respect, dignity, and pride in craft
