Starting at $68000 commensurate with experience - 223 calendar day Job Function: The Special Programs Coordinator-Special Education is actively involved at the campus and district in the design and delivery of effective appropriate services to students who qualify for Special Education. Duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services (EDSS). Serves as districts designee on transition and employment services for students enrolled in special education; provides information and resources about effective transition planning and services to ensure that school staff communicate and collaborate with students enrolled in special education and their parents as well as appropriate agencies and services. Streamlining the testing process for students by coordinating appropriate testing evaluation and identification of students who qualify for special education services and students who require re-evaluation. Supervises and evaluates the district special education staff including LSSPs SLPs SLPAs Educational Diagnosticians Special Education Case Manager and Behavior Interventionist. Assisting the special education teachers with the scheduling and conducting of ARD meetings as needed. Communicating with outside therapy companies as needed to coordinate necessary services including but not limited to speech occupational and physical therapy. Assisting special education teachers in developing and communicating individual education plans for all special education students. Collaborates with Principals and EDSS to ensure compliance with all federal state and local standards. Maintaining current confidential accurate and compliant student records including becoming intimately familiar with student records and actively monitoring progress and deadlines in order to ensure compliance with district state and federal guidelines. Acting as a liaison with the classroom teacher(s) for the purpose of ensuring the implementation of the established IEP of an assigned student. Collaborating with the EDSS to develop coordinate and review district special education services; makes recommendations and adjustments in services as appropriate. Coordinating frequent and open collaboration among special education RTI ESL and general education teachers. Assists the EDSS and the district in maintaining and communicating current knowledge of federal state and local requirements relevant to special education programs. Collaborating with the EDSS and Instructional Coaches to provide relevant research-based training to all special education and general education teachers regarding IEPs inclusion services and other appropriate instructional strategies for students with disabilities. Provides thorough and timely reports data and information as requested. Collaborating with the EDSS to develop coherent appropriate curricula and modifications for all special education students. Assisting special education teachers in monitoring students progress toward IEP/academic goals and maintaining timely communication of that progress among students parents teachers and administrators. Collaborating with district assessment personnel to implement appropriate testing accommodations and/or modifications for all federal state and local assessments. Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the EDSS. Skills/Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
