Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production equipment in a high‑volume food‑processing environment. This role combines strong mechanical aptitude with solid electrical knowledge and familiarity with automated systems to keep bottling, packaging, and blow‑molding equipment running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on processing equipment, bottle filling machines, and plastic blow‑molding equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency., • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on production lines, including conveyors, chains, sprockets, gear boxes, pumps, and packaging and filling equipment., • Carry out light to moderate electrical troubleshooting, including identifying failed sensors and other electrical components that cause mechanical errors, and determining how these failures affect machine performance., • Change and wire motors on 480V and 240V single‑phase and three‑phase systems, and service associated equipment such as conveyors, gear boxes, limit switches, lasers, PC pumps, drives, and contactors., • Install, maintain, and repair positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps, PC pumps, and related mechanical systems used in juice extraction, processing, filling, and plastics operations., • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic valves and hydraulic systems, ensuring reliable operation of cylinders and other actuated components., • Perform MIG welding on stainless steel and carbon steel components as needed for equipment repair and fabrication; support TIG welding activities where applicable., • Use hand and power tools, including grinders and drills, to repair and modify mechanical components and structures on production equipment., • Operate forklifts as needed to move equipment, parts, and materials safely within the facility., • Support packaging and bottling operations by maintaining conveyor systems, limit switches, sensors, and other automation components that control product flow and machine sequencing., • Conduct PLC troubleshooting at a basic level to help identify control issues affecting equipment performance and coordinate with automation resources when needed., • Comply with OSHA health and safety rules and follow all plant safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment., • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe by performing sweeping, cleaning, and general housekeeping tasks., • Work collaboratively with team members across juice extraction, processing, filling, and plastics departments to support production needs and resolve equipment issues., • Perform other duties as assigned to support maintenance, production, and facility operations. Essential Skills • At least 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a food production environment., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical issues on high‑volume production equipment., • Hands‑on experience with preventive maintenance and emergency repair of processing equipment, bottle filling machines, and plastic blow‑molding equipment., • Ability to troubleshoot and repair conveyors, chains, sprockets, gear boxes, limit switches, and packaging and filling machinery., • Working knowledge of 480V and 240V electrical systems, including single‑phase and three‑phase motors, drives, contactors, and basic wiring practices., • Experience changing motors and wiring associated equipment such as conveyors, gear boxes, limit switches, lasers, and pumps., • Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic valves and work with hydraulic cylinders and related hydraulic systems., • Proficiency with MIG welding on stainless steel and carbon steel components., • Experience working with centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and PC pumps in an industrial setting., • Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as grinders and drills safely and effectively., • Forklift operating experience in a production or maintenance environment., • Understanding of and adherence to OSHA health and safety rules and general industrial safety practices., • Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to support identification of control issues on automated equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with packaging equipment, particularly in bottling operations, is highly desirable., • Experience in blow‑molding equipment maintenance is a strong plus., • Previous experience specifically in food production is highly preferred., • TIG welding skills on stainless steel and carbon steel are a plus and can be further developed through training., • Experience working within juice extraction, processing, filling, and plastics departments or similar high‑volume food‑processing operations., • Comfort working with automation and sensor‑based systems, including lasers and limit switches., • Ability to pinpoint root causes of mechanical errors, such as sensor failures, and understand their impact on machine performance., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities and keeping work areas orderly., • Willingness to perform general housekeeping tasks, including sweeping, cleaning, and organizing tools and parts., • Flexibility to work across different departments and support multiple product lines as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr.
