Job Description Forklift Mechanic $30-32/hr Job Description This role maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots propane and electric forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, complete required documentation accurately, and support internal customers by delivering timely, cost-effective service at their location. Responsibilities • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement on various models of material handling equipment, including propane and electric forklifts., • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on forklifts and other material handling equipment to identify root causes and implement effective solutions., • Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and guidelines to minimize equipment downtime., • Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose and repair system faults., • Perform all service work at internal customer locations in a timely and cost-effective manner while meeting quality and safety standards., • Accurately complete all required paperwork and data entry related to service calls, maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment status., • Use and maintain an adequate set of personal tools required to perform daily maintenance and repair tasks., • Operate material handling equipment safely once properly certified, following all safety procedures and company policies., • Lift, move, push, and pull parts and equipment as needed to perform maintenance and repair activities., • Communicate professionally with internal customers, providing clear updates on work performed, equipment status, and any additional service needs., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize work orders and ensure that customer requirements are consistently met. Essential Skills • Minimum one to two years of hands-on experience working specifically with material handling equipment, including propane and electric forklifts., • Minimum three years of experience in repair and maintenance on material handling equipment., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing forklifts and related material handling equipment., • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics., • Strong preventive maintenance skills, including inspection, adjustment, and replacement of key components., • Proficiency with required data input and completion of paperwork related to maintenance and repair activities., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance., • Ability and willingness to frequently push, pull, kneel, bend, and reach during the course of daily work., • Ownership and maintenance of an adequate set of personal tools necessary to perform the job., • Valid driver license., • Customer service skills, including the ability to interact professionally with internal customers., • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel., • Capability to become certified to operate material handling equipment as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications • High school diploma, G.E.D., or technical school graduate preferred., • Experience working as a maintenance technician or in a similar equipment repair role., • Prior experience performing troubleshooting, forklift repair, and preventive maintenance in a warehouse or industrial environment., • Comfort working independently and managing multiple service tasks in a fast-paced setting., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in all maintenance and repair activities. Work Environment This role is based inside a warehouse environment that is not temperature-controlled, so you will work in varying seasonal conditions. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work routine. You will work around material handling equipment such as forklifts and related tools, using your own set of personal tools along with company-provided equipment as needed. The environment involves regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching, and requires adherence to all safety practices appropriate for an active warehouse setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
