Job DescriptionJob Title: Mold Technician Job Description The Mold Technician ensures all molds are properly maintained, prepared for production, and aligned with overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) goals. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, tooling reliability, and minimizing downtime to support consistent production and on-time customer deliveries. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to maintenance schedules, and effective collaboration with engineering and operations teams. Responsibilities • Manage and execute preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all molds using established A/B/C processes to ensure reliability and optimal performance., • Use MaintMaster or similar maintenance software to track, schedule, and document all PM activities on molds and related equipment., • Coordinate closely with process engineering and operations to ensure weekly mold cleanings are completed on time and meet quality standards., • Organize and maintain the mold spare parts room, ensuring accurate labeling, orderly storage, and adequate inventory of standard components., • Order mold-related spare parts as needed, obtain required approvals, and track orders to ensure parts are available when required., • Install molds in injection molding machines according to production schedules and perform mold changes efficiently and safely., • Repair molds based on production needs, including diagnosing issues, replacing components, and verifying proper operation after repair., • Perform root cause analysis on mold, machine, or robot issues, document findings, and recommend corrective and preventive actions., • Support maintenance activities on production machines, including injection molding machines (IMM) and robots, as needed to maintain uptime., • Conduct emergency repairs and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on molds and related equipment., • Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and documentation to perform accurate maintenance, repair, and setup tasks., • Collaborate with process engineering to troubleshoot and adjust molding processes to achieve consistent quality and output., • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities related to manpower, machines, methods, and materials to enhance productivity and quality., • Participate in meetings related to maintenance, production, and continuous improvement, providing input on mold and equipment status., • Maintain required equipment certifications, such as forklifts and lifts, and operate this equipment safely when handling molds., • Assist in managing spare parts inventory for injection molding machines, robots, and associated equipment to support uninterrupted production.Essential Skills, • At least 4 years of experience working with injection molds in a production environment., • Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding machines, molds, and mold tooling, including mold setups, changes, and repairs., • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in preventative maintenance on injection molding equipment., • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems related to molds and molding equipment., • Ability to perform root cause analysis on mold, machine, and robot issues and document findings clearly., • Working knowledge of robotics used in conjunction with injection molding equipment., • Proficiency with maintenance or CMMS software such as MaintMaster for tracking and scheduling PM work., • Strong leadership, decision-making, time management, and critical thinking skills in a manufacturing setting., • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaborating with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams., • Solid math skills to support measurements, tolerances, and maintenance documentation., • Working knowledge of MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (Office 365 preferred)., • High school diploma or equivalent.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Technical coursework or an associate degree in a related field is preferred., • Experience organizing and managing a mold spare parts room or similar inventory environment., • Experience with injection molding machine (IMM) spare parts and robot spare parts management., • Familiarity with A/B/C preventative maintenance processes for molds and production equipment., • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and equipment documentation., • Comfort working with non-climate-controlled manufacturing equipment and environments., • Current or prior certifications for forklifts, lifts, or similar equipment, or willingness to obtain and maintain such certifications.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility that operates injection molding machines, molds, and associated robotic equipment. You will work around heavy machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and powered industrial vehicles such as forklifts and lifts. The standard shift for this position is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., requiring punctuality and consistent attendance. The environment is hands-on and shop-floor oriented, with a focus on safe work practices, proper handling of molds and tooling, and adherence to established maintenance procedures and schedules. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Haltom City, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
