Job DescriptionHiring for Phlebotomists! Job Description This floating phlebotomist role serves multiple patient service centers across North Brooklyn, providing high-quality blood collection and specimen processing for a high-volume outpatient population. You will perform 20–50 blood draws per day, ensure accurate data entry and specimen handling, and deliver excellent customer service to a primarily adult patient population. Responsibilities • Greet patients upon arrival, verify identity, and complete intake and registration in the internal system., • Perform venipuncture using straight needles and butterfly needles, completing approximately 20–40 blood draws per day, with a total patient volume of 30–50 patients per day., • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures and test requirements., • Label specimens accurately, including applying required identifiers and barcodes., • Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the specific test orders., • Perform data entry for patient information, test orders, and specimen details in the internal system with a high level of accuracy., • Process samples, including preparing, organizing, and routing specimens for further testing., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting all interactions and procedures performed., • Record maintenance data related to equipment and work area, and support decontamination and cleanliness of the work environment., • Demonstrate proper phlebotomy techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles in accordance with established protocols., • Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety., • Participate in additional tasks such as accessioning and other laboratory support duties as trained., • Provide courteous, professional customer service to patients, including adults and geriatric patients, and support those who may have special needs or concerns., • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on phlebotomy experience., • Proficiency and full comfort using straight needles for venipuncture., • Demonstrated experience performing blood draws and venipuncture in a high-volume setting., • Strong data entry skills with the ability to accurately enter and update patient information in an internal system., • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy patient service environment., • Strong customer service skills with a professional, patient-focused approach., • Comfort working primarily with adult patients, including geriatric populations., • High level of attention to detail for labeling, processing, and handling specimens., • Ability to follow established procedures for specimen collection, storage, centrifugation, splitting, and freezing., • Basic computer proficiency and comfort working with electronic medical or laboratory systems., • Minimum education of high school diploma or GED., • Medical Assistant (MA) experience in addition to phlebotomy is beneficial., • Experience working with centrifuges and other basic laboratory equipment., • Familiarity with CPT-related processes and test ordering workflows., • Experience working with geriatric patients in an outpatient or laboratory setting., • Bilingual abilities are a plus and can enhance patient communication and comfort., • Comfort working as a float phlebotomist, traveling between multiple locations within a defined territory. This is a float position based across multiple patient service centers in North Brooklyn. You will rotate between several outpatient locations within the North Brooklyn territory, providing coverage where needed. The environment is clinical and fast-paced, with a daily patient volume of approximately 30–50 patients per site. You will work with standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment, including straight needles, butterfly needles, collection tubes, centrifuges, and freezers, while using an internal computer system for data entry and record updates. Schedules are part-time to near full-time and include consistent Saturday shifts, with options such as Wednesday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. plus every Saturday 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., or other combinations including Monday–Wednesday, Monday–Thursday, Tuesday–Saturday, and similar patterns, all with Saturday 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
