Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician Job Description This role focuses on building and installing conduit systems, performing precise instrument and PLC terminations, and assembling and wiring electrical enclosures to support complex electrical and control systems. The position involves hands-on work with a wide range of instrumentation and electronic test equipment in a dynamic environment that includes both launch pad and test site operations. Responsibilities • Build and install rigid conduit systems ranging from 1 inch to 4 inches to support electrical system installations., • Install, cut, thread, and bend rigid conduit in accordance with project specifications and safety standards., • Perform wire pulls to route and organize wiring for electrical and instrumentation systems., • Complete instrument terminations with high accuracy and attention to detail to ensure reliable signal integrity., • Carry out PLC terminations, ensuring proper connections to programmable logic controller hardware., • Assemble and wire electrical enclosures and panels based on detailed project drawings and specifications., • Support electronic system assembly and construction, including integration of instrumentation and control components., • Use multimeters, process meters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment to verify system performance and troubleshoot issues., • Apply basic Wheatstone bridge theory, Ohm’s law, and DC electronics principles to diagnose and resolve instrumentation and electrical problems., • Perform system-level troubleshooting to logically identify instrumentation system faults and determine effective corrective actions., • Set up and configure data acquisition plans and test parameters for various measurement and instrumentation tasks., • Work with a variety of sensors and signal conditioning concepts, including thermocouples, RTDs, strain gages, load cells, displacement transducers, and pressure transducers., • Handle devices such as DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, UPS installations, and implement proper heat shrink tubing, cable harnessing, lacing, and strain relief techniques., • Support launch campaigns and operations at a rocket launch facility, contributing to reliable test and launch pad instrumentation., • Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively in both indoor and outdoor environments., • Apply mitigation techniques when working in corrosive environments to protect equipment and ensure long-term reliability.Essential Skills, • Hands-on experience building and installing conduit systems from 1 inch to 4 inches, including cutting, threading, and bending rigid conduit., • Proficiency in performing wire pulls and organizing wiring for electrical and instrumentation systems., • Demonstrated ability to complete instrument terminations and PLC terminations accurately and consistently., • Experience assembling and wiring electrical enclosures and panels for industrial or technical applications., • Working knowledge of programmable logic controller (PLC) hardware, human machine interface (HMI), and graphical user interface (GUI)., • Operational knowledge of electronic test equipment, including multimeters, process meters, and oscilloscopes., • Experience using power tools in a professional capacity in construction, electrical, or instrumentation environments., • Experience with electronic system assembly and construction, integrating sensors, wiring, and control hardware., • Basic knowledge of Wheatstone bridge theory and the ability to apply Ohm’s law and direct current (DC) electronics in practical troubleshooting., • System-level troubleshooting skills with the ability to logically diagnose instrumentation system problems and determine corrective actions., • Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns., • Experience working in corrosive environments and applying appropriate mitigation techniques.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Associate degree in instrumentation, control technology, electrical systems, or a closely related field., • Experience working with instrumentation such as multimeters, resistance temperature devices (RTDs), thermocouples, strain gages, load cells, displacement transducers, and pressure transducers., • Knowledge of signal conditioning concepts for various sensor types, including thermocouple Types K, S, and E., • Understanding of thermal conductive bonding concepts, including resistance weld-on and adhesive bond-on types., • Familiarity with probe installation through thermowell sheaths and cold junction compensation concepts., • Experience with DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) installations., • Skill in using heat shrink tubing, cable harnessing, lacing, and applying proper strain relief concepts., • Working knowledge of transducers and operational amplifiers., • Knowledge of measurement techniques for temperature, pressure, flow, displacement, vibration, and the application of strain gages., • Ability to identify required data, define data acquisition plans, and establish test parameters for instrumentation and measurement tasks., • Experience soldering wires and connectors with consistent quality and reliability.Why Work Here? The role involves regular use of power tools, hand tools, and electronic test equipment such as multimeters, process meters, and oscilloscopes. Conditions can include exposure to corrosive environments, requiring appropriate mitigation techniques and adherence to safety practices. Work attire should be suitable for an industrial and outdoor environment, with practical clothing and protective gear appropriate for field work and test site operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Brownsville, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
