Duties and Responsibilities: • Administer physician ordered medication to resident's and maintain related medical records under the supervision of the Clinical Director., • Verify identity of residents receiving medication and record name of drug, dosage, route, and time of administration on electronic MAR., • Presents medication to resident and observes administration of medication, using certified medication aid training procedures., • Takes vital signs or observes residents to detect response to specified types of medication and prepares report or notifies Clinical Director of unexpected reactions., • Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered., • Adheres to medication administration policy., • May receive supply of ordered medications and assemble drugs for administration to resident., • May record and restock medication inventory., • Participates in an annual CMA caregiver skills competency check which meets the requirements contained in the standardized clinical skills competency checklist used to certify CMA., • Follow state CMA protocols for the community to maintain compliance., • May perform the following tasks related to the administration of medications utilizing only unit or multidose packaging of medications:, • Administer physician ordered oral, ophthalmic, topical, optic, nasal, vaginal and rectal medications., • Administer insulin, epinephrine, and B12 pursuant to physical direction and protocol., • Administer medications via a metered dose inhaler., • Conduct finger stick blood glucose testing following established protocol., • Administer a commercially prepared disposable enema ordered by a physician., • Assist residents in the supervisor of self-administration of medication., • Monitors and records temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure, as directed by the Clinical director., • Report significant changes in the residents' condition log and med aide communication log., • Assist residents with simple dressings and empty ostomy bags, Colostomy bags and catheter bags., • Reminds and assists resident in taking pre-measured medications., • Maintains an accurate and complete record of care provided and documents observations appropriately., • Responsible for maintenance of electronic medical records, assuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards., • Supports the residents, family, healthcare providers and vendors., • Provides bed bath, shower or tub bath as appropriate., • Provides appropriate care of skin, hair, nails, mouth and feet., • Provides good body alignment, positioning, and range of motion exercises for non-ambulatory residents • Assists residents in and out of bed and with ambulation., • Assists residents with use urinal, commode and bathroom., • Assists with feeding and dressing residents., • Provides personal care to the resident in a compassionate and understanding manner consistent with the Eden philosophy • Maintains the dignity of the resident., • Provides person-centered care to improve the quality of life., • Consults and collaborates with the management team and others involved in the resident's care., • Provides oversight of residents and accountability to policies and procedures such as nametags, gait belts, clinical standup/ rounds and professional interactions., • Assists residents during activity programs and mealtimes., • Focuses on solving conflict and not blaming., • Listens to others without interrupting and keeps emotions under control- Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things., • Maintain state regulation compliance with family, director and physician notification for changes in conditions, incident reporting and medication needs etc., • Other duties as assigned. Competencies: • Practices infection control and special precautions in all resident care duties, • Works with integrity; upholds organizational values, • Must be able to work semi-independently and have strong written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, policies and employee manuals, • Ability to write reports and correspondence, • Ability to speak effectively in front of others, • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations, • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation, and interaction with residents' families and families experiencing loss, • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy, • Demonstrates and knowledgeable of the Six (6) Rights of Medication Pass ("Right" resident, medication, dosage, time, route, right to refuse). Requirements: Ability to meet physical demands: Standing, lifting greater than 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, bending, sitting, reaching, stooping. Qualifications: • Current Georgia Med Tech License., • Current Georgia CNA certification., • Must successfully clear a background check/ fingerprinting, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening, drug screening., • Current CPR and First Aid certification. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of standing and walking., • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
