NOCO | Buffalo, NY Full-Time | Non-Exempt Reports to: Director of Environmental Field Operations HANDS-ON FIELD LEADERSHIP | ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION | EMERGENCY RESPONSE NOCO is hiring an experienced Environmental Field Supervisor in Buffalo, New York to lead crews performing environmental remediation, hazardous and non-hazardous waste cleanup, industrial cleaning, emergency response, equipment decontamination, and waste transportation. This is NOT a desk supervisor position. You’ll be in the field, in PPE, and leading from the front—organizing crews, coordinating equipment and resources, communicating with customers, enforcing safety requirements, solving problems in real time, and working alongside your team to complete demanding environmental projects safely and efficiently. You will: • Lead environmental remediation, industrial maintenance, waste transportation, and emergency-response projects, • Supervise CDL operators, equipment operators, environmental technicians, and emergency-response personnel, • Assign and direct daily crew responsibilities, • Conduct pre-job safety and work-plan discussions, • Review job responsibilities, procedures, hazards, and safety requirements with the crew, • Execute work plans and instructions provided by Environmental Field Operations management, • Coordinate employees, vehicles, equipment, materials, and supplies, • Monitor safety, quality, productivity, and job completion, • Perform hands-on environmental and industrial fieldwork alongside your crew, • Operate commercial vehicles and environmental equipment when required, • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, • Lead From the Front We're looking for a supervisor who is comfortable working alongside the crew—not managing from the sidelines. You'll be expected to: • Set clear expectations before work begins, • Provide hands-on training and coaching, • Monitor employee performance in the field, • Provide constructive feedback, • Address performance or conduct concerns, • Communicate employee issues to management when necessary, • Keep crews focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity, • Step in and help get the job done when needed, • Lead by example every day Safety Is Non-Negotiable: As the field supervisor, you'll be responsible for helping ensure everyone goes home safely. You will: • Enforce proper use of PPE and safety equipment, • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, company, and customer requirements, • Identify and immediately address unsafe conditions or work practices, • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist, • Verify required driver logs, vehicle inspections, and transportation documentation, • Report accidents, injuries, spills, property damage, and near-miss incidents, • Participate in safety programs, training, and field compliance activities, • Help create a job-site culture where safety comes before shortcuts Customer & Project Leadership: You'll also serve as a key representative of NOCO at customer locations. Responsibilities include: • Serve as the primary on-site contact for customers, • Maintain professional customer relationships, • Keep the Project Manager informed of job progress, • Communicate delays, staffing needs, equipment issues, safety concerns, and changes in scope, • Complete accurate and timely job documentation, • Prepare worksheets, safety forms, inspection records, incident reports, and customer paperwork What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent, • Must be at least 21 years old, • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, • Ability to meet applicable background and drug-testing requirements, • Strong leadership and communication skills, • Ability to safely lead employees in demanding field environments, • Ability to complete accurate job, safety, and project documentation, • Willingness to perform hands-on fieldwork alongside the crew Experience That Will Make You Stand Out: We especially want to hear from candidates with: • 2+ years of supervisory, remediation, or industrial maintenance experience, • Environmental remediation experience, • Hazardous or non-hazardous waste cleanup experience, • Emergency-response experience, • Industrial cleaning or industrial maintenance experience, • General construction or other hands-on field leadership experience, • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification, • Confined Space Entry certification Don't have every preferred certification? Candidates with strong related environmental, industrial, construction, or field-leadership experience are still encouraged to apply. Physical & Field Requirements: This is an active, hands-on field position. Candidates must be willing and able to: • Work at industrial and environmental job sites, • Work in confined spaces, • Work at elevated heights, including ladders, scaffolding, cranes, and other elevated surfaces, • Lift and move up to 50 pounds, • Push and pull up to 50 pounds, • Work outdoors in changing weather conditions, • Work around fuels, fumes, and potentially hazardous or caustic materials, • Wear all required company-issued PPE, • Wear a respirator when required, • Remain clean-shaven when necessary to achieve a proper respirator seal Schedule & Emergency Response: Environmental emergencies don't follow a 9-to-5 schedule. Candidates must be willing to: • Participate in an on-call rotation, • Respond to emergency jobs when needed, • Work variable schedules, • Work overnight when required, • Work weekends and holidays when required, • Adjust schedules as project and emergency-response needs change Ready to Lead in the Field?
