POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavior Specialist will be a resource for staff who require assistance dealing with children having difficulties adjusting to camp. They will work with campers that need emotional support and guidance. This position will also assist in providing a safe and nurturing environment for everyone. Actual salary will be based on applicant’s experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Attend mandatory supervisors weekend in May (date and time to be determined), • Develops professional goals for the summer that will help support and meet GSWNY’s mission and camp goals., • Works with the camp administrative team on developing and implementing the per-camp training schedule., • Will research and provide during pre-camp and throughout the summer, trainings to the staff on conflict resolution, behavior management, ages and stages of children and how to effectively work with challenging children., • Reviews personal information provided by parents and creates an Individual Camper Plan (ICP) that will meet the required accommodations of campers with challenging behaviors., • Informs Camp Director of all serious situations involving violence, abuse, bullying or personnel issues., • Intervenes in any situation that will help to improve the quality of the relationships and experiences of campers and staff., • Assure that behavior management techniques are correctly applied to conflicts with children when necessary. Report incidents and accidents to supervisor immediately., • Considers community resources for support and guidance in dealing with issues that may arise., • Keeps the staff informed on problems and concerns on an on-going basis., • Will be consistently available to campers and staff and actively focused on the needs of the camp community., • Maintains a professional appearance in the camp community, while modeling responsible behavior for camp staff and campers., • Work with camp administrative team on placing staff appropriately into unit assignments., • Participates in all aspects of camp including pre-camp, open house and post camp., • Assists with overnight coverage when deemed necessary., • Attends staff meetings when scheduled/necessary., • Report suspected child abuse to supervisor immediately., • Prepare a final report detailing the strong points and weak points of this position and suggestions for improvements., • May need to act as bus aide at some point during the summer day camp season (will receive additional pay), • If acting as bus aide, • Must meet the bus at the terminal or first bus stop in the morning., • Take a head count of the campers every day during the morning pick-up and evening drop-off and maintain safety and orderliness on the bus., • Report absent campers to the Assistant Camp Director every morning and evening., • Assure that a parent or other designated adult meets campers before the bus drives off by utilizing the camper pick-up form., • Accepts other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Program Director/Camp Director. The health supervisor and the Camp Director/Director of Camp Administration have the only access to these securely locked medical records. Decisions to release medical information to other staff members will be based on the camper’s needs and parents’ authorization., • Models and teaches good health practices for all staff and campers., • Supplies and maintains first aid kits for specified areas in camp and for out of camp trips and hikes., • Refers campers and staff to physician’s care at clinic or hospital, with approval of Camp Director and camp physician on call., • Confers with parents as necessary., • Screens incoming campers for any illnesses, infections, bruises, rashes and other health concerns., • Notifies the appropriate staff members of camper allergies, medications and health concerns., • Establishes a system for health screening for arriving campers and staff, as well as a system for health screening for trips out-of-camp., • Conducts an inventory of supplies and places orders when necessary, ensuring the timely arrival of supplies., • Participate in and lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety, including, but not limited to standard precautions, how to administer aid and what type of aid needs more then general first aid., • Consult with the camp physician on call regarding camper and staff medical health., • Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers and staff while in the infirmary., • Responsible for maintaining a clean and Job Description Position Summary: The role of the HR Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR office. The HR Generalist is responsible for the full cycle of recruiting for St. John’s Meadows / Brickstone communities. Responsibilities include: Partnering with Hiring Managers in creative sourcing of candidates, receiving and processing applications, screening resumes, interviewing and selecting candidates and facilitating the offer process. Applies all HR policy, procedures and practices in accordance with St. John’s standards. As a member of the HR team provides direct support for multiple facets of human resources, role models the St. John's brand characteristics, is highly motivated, able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, builds relationships with constituent groups and delivers high level customer service. Qualifications & Education: • Associates Degree with minimum of 1 year experience in Human Resources preferably in a Health care setting., • Prefer related work experience with responsibility to the hiring process., • Must embrace and exemplify St. John’s Brand Characteristics., • May be required to work flexible hours, • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skill., • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, • Adaptable , flexible to customer needs, • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality. Essential Functions: • Execute recruitment plan by proactively recruiting for well qualified candidates that have the specific skills and values consistent with Brand Characteristics and department need., • Recruit from a variety of sources, managing selection process to include phone and in person meetings., • Manages full life cycle of the St John’s Hiring / Recruitment process. including but not limited to: prescreening candidates, candidate submissions to hiring manager, candidate management system updates, rate requests, offers and/or rescinds., • Utilize and improve upon Applicant Tracking System., • Establish, cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with hiring managers in order to understand the departments and its recruitment needs in context of their culture and mission., • Proactively identifies barriers to success in the recruiting process., • Determine organizational readiness for ongoing recruiting improvements., • Coach and mentor employee/manager knowledge of recruiting and selection processes., • Attend departmental staff and other meetings as needed to acquire substantial knowledge about the department’s organizational objectives, goals, and operations and work culture., • Manage candidate pipeline based on current and/or future St. John’s initiatives including attendance in offsite job fairs., • Recruit in accordance with NYS and Federal employment laws and regulations., • Conduct exit and retention interviews to establish turnover trends., • Provide off cycle New Employee Orientations., • Organize and maintain application folder, job postings , job descriptions, • Maintain full up to date knowledge of departments master schedules, FTEs, pay grades, GL codes., • Assist in supporting resolution to employee relations issues to promote successful employees., • Conduct 30, 60, 90 day feedback of new hires., • Conduct exit interviews., • Consult, recommend and support in accordance with policy: corrective actions, internal transfer promotion second position process, conflict resolution and terminations., • Runs reports as requested through ADP for Hiring Managers and Administrators., • Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements: • Light to moderate lifting, pushing or pulling of up to 25 lbs., • Sitting, standing, bending, twisting and walking.
