Job Description Veterinary Technician Reports to: Practice Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt An experienced Tier 3 Veterinary Assistant/Technician provides specialized clinical and surgical support to veterinarians, credentialed veterinary technicians, and reception teams. This role involves performing advanced medical procedures, administering and monitoring anesthesia, delivering high-level nursing care, and maintaining detailed and accurate medical records. Individuals in this tier are expected to demonstrate proficiency in veterinary nursing, diagnostic testing, surgical support, dentistry, and emergency care. Key Responsibilities • Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including aseptic preparation, intubation, administering induction and maintenance anesthesia, providing intraoperative/emergency/post-operative medications, and monitoring patients before, during, and after surgery., • Perform dentistry at an advanced level, including obtaining full-mouth dental radiographs efficiently and accurately., • Demonstrate advanced understanding of hospital equipment, including dental and surgical instruments; maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot dental, surgical, and laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality., • Demonstrate and consistently apply low-stress and Fear-Free handling techniques., • Ensure patient safety by monitoring vital signs, anticipating and preventing complications, and responding to emergencies quickly and effectively., • Apply advanced knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, complex diagnoses, pharmaceuticals, drug calculations, surgical techniques, dentistry, radiology, diagnostics, laboratory procedures, and other critical areas of patient care., • Maintain complete, accurate, and detailed patient records, including medical histories, diagnostics, treatments, surgical notes, and care plans., • Educate pet owners on advanced medical conditions, treatment plans, preventive care, post-operative care, medication administration, and follow-up expectations., • Ensure all clinical, surgical, and exam areas maintain proper cleanliness, sterilization, and safety standards., • Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent required., • Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) in Arizona required., • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic., • Additional years of veterinary technician experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis., • Proficient in advanced animal restraint, medical terminology, surgical and dental procedures, anesthesia, and emergency care., • Strong understanding of veterinary pharmacology, drug calculations, and advanced nursing techniques., • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to provide clear, empathetic client education., • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and emergency situations., • Team-first, collaborative environment., • Client-facing role requiring strong communication and professionalism., • Exposure to animal odors, chemicals, noise, and potentially infectious materials., • Potential for injury (e.g., bites, scratches) when handling animals., • Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and movement throughout the day., • Work with animals of various sizes and temperaments, including during stressful or emergency situations., • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required., • Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability, efficiency, and strong multitasking skills.Company DescriptionWe are truly obsessed with supporting every team member’s personal and professional successes.
