This position is in-person/on site. This is not a remote position. Job Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday, Day Shift Salary: 75k/yr or Dependent on experience. Chemist – Method Development Duties: • Perform method development and validation with, HPLC, UPLC, UPLC-MS/MS,, • Perform method development and validation in accordance with USP <1225>, USP <1226>, and AOAC Appendix K, • Perform method optimization for already developed methods, • Train quality control chemists on transferred and developed methods, • Perform documented cost test analyses, • Write method validation, verification, and development reports, • Interpret data and test results and document accordingly, • Perform non-routine testing of Research and Development (R&D) materials as appropriate, • Analyze samples to determine chemical and/or physical properties, composition and/or structure, utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry, • Aid in the development and improvement of laboratory processes and functions as well as the performance and applicability of analytical methods, • Maintain a well-documented laboratory notebook, • Follow all cGLP and cGMP guidelines, • Complete daily laboratory functions and calibration activities with associated documentation, • Partake in laboratory hygiene events and routine laboratory cleaning and maintenance, • Participate in method development and validation studies under direction of laboratory management, • Write or edit laboratory documentation such as standard operating procedures, test methods, or training protocols under direction of laboratory management, • Perform chemical and physical inventory of all laboratory supplies, reagents, solvents, and standards on a consistent basis, • Maintain instrumentation calibration and maintenance schedules to ensure proper condition and calibration of laboratory instrumentation and equipment at all times, • File appropriate paperwork when modifications to laboratory procedures or processes are necessary, such as deviations and change control documentation A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemistry related field, such as biochemistry or molecular biology, is highly desired. A bachelor’s degree in a hard-scientific field such as physics or biology is acceptable. At least 2 years of method development experience (or equivalent) in the food or dietary supplements industry is required. Technical Skills: Digital • Proficient using Waters Empower 3 software, • Proficient using MassLynx – preferred., • ASTRA 8 software proficiency - preferred, • Proficiency with analytical instrumentation such as, HPLC/UPLC, LCMS, UPLCMS/MS specifically Waters UPLC’s, • Proficiency with SEC-MALS, preferably on the Wyatt Dawn platform., • Proficiency with SEC in general and experience developing methods for large molecules (polysaccharides, proteins, glycoproteins, nanoparticles, etc), • Strong analytical technique and instrumentation skills, • Familiar and/or proficient with simple mathematical manipulations and algebra, • Meticulous attention to detail, dependability, and excellent organizational skills, • Familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as, HSGC, FTIR, UV-Vis HPTLC a plus, • Good interpersonal skills, can work proficiently with people of different backgrounds, lifestyles, and values, • Team attitude, willing to help others with their tasks and accept help with your tasks, • Able to work independently when necessary, • Able to self-manage one’s time for maximum efficiency, • Able to complete a long-term project while simultaneously performing multiple smaller, shorter-term projects, or while performing routine QC testing
