Job Summary We are seeking a technically strong and adaptable Senior Geologist to support and lead subsurface characterization, development planning, and drilling activities across our Piceance Basin assets. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role within a lean, agile team where work is accomplished from concept to execution with minimal direct oversight. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in subsurface characterization across multiple technical platforms, paired with a collaborative mindset, operational discipline, and a genuine curiosity for continuous learning. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Subsurface Characterization & Interpretation • Interpret well logs, core and cuttings data, pressure and production behavior, and geologic maps to evaluate reservoir quality, continuity, and development risk., • Develop integrated geologic products, maps, and visualizations that answer critical development and commercial questions. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner directly with Operations and Reservoir Engineers to integrate geologic interpretation into drilling execution, development planning, and performance evaluation., • Provide geologic input before, during, and after drilling activities to support real-time decision-making. Executive Communication & Reporting • Prepare clear, technically defensible maps, cross sections, risk assessments, and summaries to support executive review, capital planning, and development decisions., • Present new workflows, technical assessments, and software applications to advance subsurface understanding across the organization. Drilling Program Management • Plan, permit, and execute the drilling program and data collection efforts — defining geologic objectives, well targets, and required subsurface data., • Coordinate with internal teams and regulatory stakeholders to support operated drilling activities and post-well evaluation. Project & Resource Management • Manage timelines, contracts, and resources for geologic studies, drilling support, and technical data acquisition., • Ensure work is delivered on schedule, within scope, and integrated into asset development workflows. Leadership & Mentorship • Lead geoscience operational planning and execution in coordination with Operations and Reservoir Engineering., • Supervise and mentor geoscience staff and contractors — defining scope, priorities, and deliverables aligned with asset objectives., • Serve as a subject matter expert on the oil and gas potential of the operating area, driving continuous learning and best practices. Qualifications Education: • Master’s degree in Geology required. Experience: Required: • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas exploration and development., • Demonstrated history of identifying commercial and economic quantities of oil or gas reserves through geological work., • Experience co-developing subsurface characterization workflows across a range of technical platforms. Specialized knowledge: • Proficiency in PETRA, Kingdom, and/or Petrel; ability to quickly learn new geoscience software. Skills & Abilities: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite., • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to technical and executive audiences., • Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary team environments., • Self-directed, organized, and capable of managing concurrent projects under tight timelines. Compensation The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $160,000 and $200,000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location. Work Environment: This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside an office space wherein employees may be provided a public workstation (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered. Physical Demands: In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position. Position Type and Working Hours: This is a full-time position. Core work hours are from 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 8:00am – 12:00pm on Friday. Employees must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours. Travel: Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
