Job Description Job Title: Analytical Chemist Job Description This position offers the opportunity to work as an Analytical Chemist in a quality-focused laboratory supporting raw materials, intermediates, and API products. You will perform release and in-process testing, interpret complex chromatographic data, and ensure materials meet specifications, while gaining broad experience with a wide range of analytical instrumentation. This role is ideal for a chemist who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, data review, and contributing to analytical and method development in a growing, expanding facility. Responsibilities • Perform release and in-process testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished API products according to applicable procedures, specifications, and test methods., • Conduct wet chemistry and analytical testing using instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer (KF), and ICP-MS (once installed)., • Interpret chromatography data using a data management system such as ChemStation or Chromeleon, and ensure accurate data management and documentation., • Review and verify analytical data and calculations, including those associated with validations, to ensure accuracy and compliance., • Assess whether materials meet established specifications for release and clearly document decisions and supporting data., • Prepare and standardize volumetric solutions and other reagents required for testing., • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory instrumentation to ensure reliable operation., • Clearly and legibly document all GMP-related activities, test results, and observations in accordance with laboratory and regulatory requirements., • Provide information and documentation in response to customer complaints or product returns, supporting investigations and resolutions., • Perform and review critical and complex calculations related to analytical testing and data evaluation., • Write and revise procedures, test methods, protocols, reports, and material specifications to support laboratory operations and compliance., • Support a culture of consistent compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements through training, guidance, and review of procedures., • Meet testing and documentation deadlines as established by laboratory leadership and production needs., • Collaborate with colleagues to support analytical development, method development, and method validation activities as needed., • Carry out general laboratory duties as required to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment., • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology., • 3–5 years of experience as a chemist in an industrial setting., • 2–3 years of consistent (more than once per week) hands-on experience with HPLC or GC., • Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and Karl Fischer titration., • Ability to interpret and review analytical and chromatographic data accurately and efficiently., • Strong skills in performing, checking, and documenting complex calculations related to analytical testing., • Experience working in a GMP or similarly regulated laboratory environment., • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with at least 2 years of experience using it for data analysis and reporting., • Ability to clearly document all GMP activities accurately and legibly in laboratory records., • Ability to follow detailed procedures, specifications, and test methods with a high level of attention to detail., • Capability to assess whether materials meet defined specifications for release based on analytical results., • Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on analytical instruments., • Strong written communication skills to write procedures, test methods, protocols, reports, and material specifications., • Experience with data management systems such as ChemStation or Chromeleon., • Experience supporting analytical method development and method validation activities., • Familiarity with ICP-MS or a strong interest in learning to operate newly installed instrumentation., • Experience working with APIs, flavors and fragrances, or specialty chemicals in a quality laboratory environment., • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines., • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high quality and compliance standards., • Ability to work independently during off-shift hours while maintaining clear communication and thorough documentation. You will work in a quality-focused analytical laboratory within an API, flavors and fragrances, and specialty chemical manufacturing environment. The role involves primarily laboratory-based work, with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. You will use a wide range of analytical equipment, including HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer titrators, and a newly installed ICP-MS, as well as computer-based data management systems and Microsoft Excel. This is a 2nd shift position with hours from Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Training will take place on 1st shift, with the duration dependent on your skills and readiness, after which you will transition to the night shift. During the 2nd shift, you will be the sole chemist or laboratory personnel on site, so you will work independently while following established procedures and safety practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St Francis, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.25/hr.
