Job DescriptionSalary: $22.00-$23.00per hour CAREER DETAILS: CAREER TITLE: Trails Across Texas Field Training & Development Supervisor LOCATION: AYW Headquarters, Austin, TX DIVISION: Conservation Corps DEPARTMENT: Field Operations and Training POSITION REPORTS TO: TAT and ACCC Program Manager POSITION SUPERVISES: Program Participants CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt POSITION PURPOSE: The The Trails Across Texas (TAT) Field Training & Development Supervisor is responsible for the development, supervision, and training of AmeriCorps members participating in the Texas Conservation Corps Trails Across Texas program. This role ensures high-quality project completion, member development, consistent documentation, and alignment with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) trail and habitat restoration goals. The Supervisor plays a central role in implementing project logistics, risk management, technical trail training, and member support while upholding AmeriCorps, partner, and AYW standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and basic tasks. Under direct supervision of the TAT & ACCC Manager, the TAT Field and Training Supervisor will perform the following functions: • Spend 60% of time in the Field and 40% in office, • Project Management & Partner Coordination, • Serve as primary liaison to TPWD and other project partners., • Manage day-to-day project logistics and timelines., • Conduct frequent site visits to ensure quality, safety, and deliverables are met., • Communicate partner updates, needs, and changes promptly and professionally., • Purchase supplies, tools, and materials; coordinate with accounting to submit receipts and documentation according to deadlines., • Support long-distance spike travel and remote hitch management across the state., • Train and supervise AmeriCorps members;, • Plan and facilitate Crew Leader and Crew Member orientations., • Provide ongoing technical training:, • Trail building & maintenance, • Carpentry and timber bridge construction (with TPWD as appropriate), • Chainsaw operation & maintenance, • Risk management & safety procedures, • Conservation best practices, • Deliver on-the-job training to crew leaders and members, reinforcing AYW and TPWD standards., • Maintain all required certifications and seek ongoing professional development., • Supervision, Leadership Development & Member Support, • Provide direct supervision to TAT AmeriCorps members and leaders., • Conduct mid-term and end-of-term performance evaluations., • Support members physical, emotional, and social well-being through one-on-one and group check-ins., • Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership development, especially during long hitches., • Model inclusive, professional, and trauma-informed leadership., • Support conflict resolution and enforce disciplinary actions per AYW and AmeriCorps policy., • Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities, • Weekly, • Submit project logs into shared databases., • Upload project notes, partner updates, and relevant documentation., • Complete timesheet review/signatures for all supervised members., • Submit receipts and purchase documentation., • Enter project metrics (hours, mileage, expenses, outputs)., • Upload safety-related documents (PHAs, incident notes if applicable)., • Per Hitch / Project Cycle, • Submit final project summary within 5 business days., • Ensure partner deliverables are entered and stored., • Ensure all incident reports and safety logs are complete., • Monthly, • Ensure grant-required metrics are accurate and up to date., • Contribute to monthly program reports., • Review shared folder structures for accuracy and compliance., • Safety & Risk Management, • Conduct pre-project hazard analyses (PHA)., • Enforce safety protocols, including daily PPE checks., • Oversee physical and emotional safety of members on and off project sites., • Participate in weekly incident report reviews., • Support disaster deployments as needed., • Equipment, Tools & Fleet Oversight, • Maintain tools, gear, and program vehicles., • Support chainsaw shop operations and equipment readiness., • Establish maintenance protocols for crews and leaders., • Track vendor accounts and coordinate repairs or purchases as needed., • Recruitment, Team Participation & Organizational Engagement, • Participate in interviewing, selection, and onboarding of AmeriCorps members., • Assist with Corps-wide service days, volunteer events, and community projects., • Participate in weekly staff meetings, cross-program functions, and trainings., • Provide data and contributions for grant narratives as needed., • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Required EQUIVALENT EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Option 1: High School Diploma or GED and completion of a two-year vocational program related to the specified field of study and two years of the specified work experience; Option 2: 30 hours towards a bachelors degree with at least 6 hours (equals 1 year) in the specified or related field of study and 3 years of the specified work experience. Preferred EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Bachelors degree in related field; EXPERIENCE: One to Three years of previous related experience in conservation and restoration programs; prior experience leading and teaching a team or supervising. Familiarity with AmeriCorps or public service, and reporting measurements, working with contracts, audit requests, compliance, and member coordination. Experience working with young adults and academically and socially at-risk opportunity youth, ages 18-28, with a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, cultural and spiritual practices; KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES KNOWLEDGE: Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word; Excel; Access; Google docs and Sheets; Trail building and habitat restoration experience; Mechanical and basic tool knowledge, including use of a chainsaw; CPR/Wilderness First Aid; Herbicide use; Team-based coordination and logistics; SKILLS: Lead teams and develop leaders; good problem-solving and logistical skills; conflict resolution skills; basic computer skills; operate passenger van, truck with trailer and other heavy equipment; chainsaw operation; GPS/GIS; carpentry; small engine maintenance; project management; project partner relations.
