Job DescriptionSalary: Job Title: General Laborer OSP Broadband Construction Location: Springfield, MO (and surrounding areas) Reports To: Crew Foreman / Field Supervisor Position Type: Full-time Role Summary As a General Laborer in the Outside Plant (OSP) broadband sector, you will play a critical role in the construction, maintenance, and installation of telecommunications infrastructure. With 3 years of construction experience, you will assist in both aerial and underground fiber optic projects, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with our company's core values: transparency, accountability, and communication. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Construction Support: Assist in the excavation, trenching, and installation of fiber optic cables, including handling strand, fiber, coax, and copper cables., • Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain construction equipment such as mini excavators, trenchers, hydro-vacs, and hand tools., • Site Preparation and Restoration: Prepare and restore job sites, including digging trenches, setting up traffic control, and ensuring all materials and equipment are properly handled., • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety standards, participate in safety briefings, and report any hazards or incidents promptly., • Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge in OSP broadband construction., • Team Collaboration: Assist in cross-functional tasks as needed, supporting various divisions and job sites., • Construction Knowledge: Understanding of general construction practices, including excavation, trenching, and cable installation., • Equipment Proficiency: Ability to operate construction equipment safely and efficiently., • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction environments., • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration., • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement solutions promptly., • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting up to 35 lbs, digging, and working in confined spaces., • Mental Focus: Maintain attention to detail and situational awareness in dynamic work environments., • Adaptability: Capability to work in various weather conditions and adjust to changing project needs., • Transparency: We foster an open environment where information is shared freely, ensuring all team members are informed and aligned., • Accountability: Each individual takes responsibility for their actions and contributions, upholding high standards of performance and integrity., • Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical or college education preferred., • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in construction, with a focus on telecommunications infrastructure preferred., • Licenses: Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A preferred., • Certifications: OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and Basic First Aid/CPR certifications preferred., • Lifting: Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs., • Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing., • Environment: Ability to work in confined spaces, trenches, manholes, and at various heights., • Weather Conditions: Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
