Position Overview Sound Impact Law, PLLC is seeking a part-time Litigation and General Practice Paralegal to support a growing caseload across civil litigation and business matters. This role is integral to maintaining case flow, managing deadlines, and supporting document-intensive work from pre-litigation through trial. This position is ideal for a paralegal who enjoys the pace and structure of litigation, is highly organized, and is comfortable working in a lean, collaborative environment. The role involves both litigation support and general practice assistance, with an emphasis on keeping matters moving efficiently and accurately. We are a small but growing firm, building intentionally and sustainably. While this role is part-time, there is potential for increased responsibility and hours over time as the firm grows, with future full-time opportunities possible. Core Responsibilities • Assist with case management from pre-litigation through trial, • Draft, format, and file pleadings, motions, and correspondence, • Support motions practice, including document preparation, exhibits, and filing coordination, • Assist with discovery, including drafting, organizing, and managing document production, • Prepare and organize materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial, including exhibits, binders, and supporting documents, • File documents across various court and agency e-filing systems, ensuring compliance with jurisdiction-specific rules and procedures, • Coordinate process serving, including preparing service packets, communicating with process servers, and tracking service status, • Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and related systems, • Manage and organize case files and records, • Communicate with clients in a professional and responsive manner, including coordinating information and assisting with case-related follow-up, • Assist with general administrative and operational tasks to support firm workflow Role Expectations • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously, • High attention to detail in document formatting, filing, and deadline tracking, • Sound judgment in handling client communications and case-related tasks, • Working knowledge of civil rules of procedure and litigation timelines, • Ability to work independently while coordinating with attorneys on case strategy and workflow, • Comfort working in a dynamic small firm environment with evolving needs, • Reliability in meeting deadlines and supporting scheduled litigation events Required Experience • Prior paralegal experience in civil litigation, • Demonstrated experience supporting matters from pre-filing through litigation and trial preparation, • Experience filing pleadings and legal documents through various court and administrative e-filing portals, • Familiarity with process serving procedures, including coordinating and tracking service of process, • Working knowledge of civil rules of procedure, • Experience assisting attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing communication Preferred Experience · Paralegal certificate or relevant advanced degree • Experience with motions practice support and complex filings, • Familiarity with administrative law proceedings, • Experience across a range of civil matters, such as business disputes, construction, employment, landlord-tenant, or general civil litigation, • Comfort working in a firm with an autonomous environment Position Structure • Part-time employee position (W-2), with hours varying based on workload, • Hourly compensation, • Hybrid or fully remote work arrangement, depending on employee and case needs, • Firm office located in Normandy Park, Washington, available for in-person collaboration as needed, • Occasional in-person attendance may be required for litigation support, primarily in courts from Island County to Pierce County – rare and with notice, • Mileage reimbursement provided for required travel, • Travel outside these areas is infrequent and typically optional Ideal Candidate Profile This role is best suited for someone who: • Enjoys supporting litigation and keeping cases organized and moving forward, • Is proactive and able to anticipate what needs to happen next, • Thrives in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment, • Is comfortable operating with a high degree of independence in a litigation-focused practice, • Values flexibility, autonomy, and working closely with a small team, • Wants to remain engaged in meaningful legal work without a full-time schedule Compensation and Benefits Sick Leave – 1.5 hours for every 40 hours worked PTO – accrued after 90 days The expected hourly range for this position is between $25.00 - $32.00.
