Job Description POSITION TITLE: Associate Vice President of Operations DIVISION: Administration DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: EVP of Administration/CFO PAY TYPE: Exempt WORKER TYPE: Full-Time UPDATED: July 2025 PAY: $90,000 The Associate Vice President of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the institution's operational functions, ensuring efficiency, safety, and a high-quality environment for the campus community.The Associate Vice President of Operations holds a pivotal leadership position within the institution, directly overseeing the strategic management and comprehensive oversight of all operational functions. This role is instrumental in ensuring not only the efficient and effective functioning of the institution's daily activities but also in fostering a secure, safe, and high-quality environment for all members of the campus community. Essential Functional Responsibilities: • Provide visionary leadership and comprehensive strategic direction for all operational departments across the institution. This involves setting clear objectives, fostering a culture of efficiency and excellence, and aligning operational activities with the broader institutional mission and strategic goals., • Directly oversee and manage the critical functions of the institution's operational departments, including:, • Director of Facilities: Provide leadership and guidance to the Director of Facilities in managing the physical infrastructure, maintenance, repairs, renovations, janitorial, and groundskeeping of all campus buildings and properties. This includes ensuring a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment conducive to learning and working., • Director of Security: Supervise the Director of Security in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive security protocols, emergency preparedness plans, and safety procedures to ensure the well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors., • Campus Dining Services: Provide oversight and direction for all aspects of campus dining services, ensuring the provision of high-quality, diverse, and nutritious food options that meet the needs and preferences of the campus community. This includes managing vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and optimizing service delivery., • Take direct responsibility for the efficient and effective management of the following auxiliary enterprises:, • The Underground: Oversee the manager of the Underground (KCAI’s art supply store), ensuring optimal inventory management, merchandising, sales performance, and customer service. This includes participating in the strategic planning for product selection, pricing, and promotional activities to support the artistic and academic needs of the institution., • New Studio Store: Oversee the manager of the New Studio Store (KCAI’s retail store), ensuring optimal inventory management, merchandising, sales performance, and customer service. This includes participating in the strategic planning for product selection, pricing, and promotional activities to support the artistic and academic needs of the institution., • Develop, implement, and rigorously enforce operational policies and procedures that promote compliance with all relevant regulations, industry best practices, and internal standards. This includes continuously reviewing and updating policies to adapt to evolving needs and ensure operational efficiency, accountability, and risk mitigation., • Actively collaborate with other divisions, departments, and stakeholders across the institution to ensure seamless integration of operational support services with academic, administrative, and student life initiatives. This involves fostering strong working relationships to achieve shared institutional goals and enhance the overall experience for the campus community., • Director of Facilities, • Director of Security, • Director of Great Western Dining, • Manager of Art Store, • Manager of New Studio Store Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: • Proven leadership and management skills in an operational setting., • Strong understanding of facilities management, security protocols, and retail operations., • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities., • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Required Experience/Education: • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related discipline., • Five or more years in an operational or managerial capacity., • Three years in a supervisory role at a director or senior level. Preferred Experience/Education: • A master's degree, such as an MBA, or relevant experience.., • Experience in a higher education or academic setting., • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget management, and policy development.., • Experience in facilities management, security, or retail operations.
