Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician / Mechanic ($32-35/hour) Job Description This hands-on Maintenance Technician / Mechanic role supports a large distribution facility by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on forklifts, conveyors, and building systems. The position combines mechanical repair, facilities maintenance, and basic PLC troubleshooting to keep equipment and operations running safely and efficiently. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment, accounting for approximately half of the workday., • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on a wide range of facility equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations., • Conduct building maintenance tasks, including work on HVAC systems, plumbing, generators, and related infrastructure, representing about 20% of daily activities., • Inspect, maintain, and repair conveyor systems, including mechanical and basic electrical components, as roughly 30% of daily responsibilities., • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC-controlled conveyor systems, using a solid understanding of PLC operation to identify faults and support efficient material flow., • Use appropriate tools, test equipment, and diagnostic techniques to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions., • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on equipment and facility systems according to established plans and timelines., • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in a clear and accurate manner to support maintenance records and planning., • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and support smooth facility operations., • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and facility guidelines while performing maintenance tasks., • Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and potential issues to supervisors and teammates in a timely and professional manner., • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role such as facilities maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or maintenance technician., • Strong mechanical aptitude and high level of mechanical knowledge across a variety of equipment types., • Proven experience performing repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on forklifts and other material handling equipment., • Hands-on experience with conveyors, including troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and basic electrical issues., • Understanding of PLCs and experience troubleshooting PLC-related issues on conveyor systems., • Ability to perform building maintenance tasks, including work on HVAC systems, plumbing, and generators., • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing mechanical problems and implementing effective corrective actions., • Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team and collaborate with others., • Background in maintenance mechanic or facilities maintenance roles with exposure to hydraulics and mechanical systems., • Experience working in a large distribution or industrial facility environment., • Comfort using a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical and facility systems., • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in completing repairs and preventive maintenance. The position requires working cooperatively with others, adapting to changing priorities, and remaining flexible in assigned tasks as operational needs evolve. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $72800.00/yr.
