Job Description Position Summary The Electrician Technician performs advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and installation of industrial electrical systems and equipment. This role independently diagnoses complex electrical failures, performs advanced repairs, and supports the reliable operation of production and facility equipment while minimizing downtime. The position requires extensive technical knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, automation, and power distribution, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment., • Diagnose complex failures involving motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), electrical distribution systems, and industrial control circuits., • Install, modify, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, wiring systems, motors, control panels, and power distribution components., • Interpret complex electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications., • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment., • Test, inspect, calibrate, and verify electrical equipment using appropriate testing and diagnostic instruments., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems, motor starters, relays, overload protection devices, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)., • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence., • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems operating at 480V, 240V, and 120V., • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on single-phase and three-phase electrical systems., • Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment, industrial automation systems, and electrical control circuits., • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic control systems., • Perform transformer installation, testing, and maintenance, including Delta and Wye (Star) configurations., • Install and troubleshoot 480VAC shore power connections and associated electrical systems., • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC systems and related controls., • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues associated with gantry cranes, overhead cranes, motor trolley systems, and crane control systems., • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plasma cutting machines, welding equipment, BOGO systems, and soft bar equipment., • Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic valve systems using solenoid controls, flow diagrams, and control schematics., • Read and interpret motor control circuits, start/stop diagrams, and other electrical drawings., • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain motor control systems rated at 200 amps and above., • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical components associated with air compressors, HVAC equipment, welding machines, magnetic plate handling systems, power stations, industrial presses, blasting equipment, panel line systems, edge rounding systems, and beveling machines., • Verify that all repairs meet company quality, operational, and safety standards before equipment is returned to service., • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, inspection reports, and parts usage records., • Communicate equipment conditions, repair status, and maintenance recommendations to supervisors., • Follow all company safety procedures, electrical safety requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and applicable standards., • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, vocational, or trade school training in electrical systems preferred., • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, motor controls, transformers, generators, switchgear, MCCs, and automation systems., • Strong ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex electrical equipment and industrial systems., • Proficiency in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, megohmmeters, clamp meters, and calibration tools., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control drawings, technical manuals, and equipment specifications., • Knowledge of PLC systems, industrial automation, VFDs, motor controls, electrical controls, and instrumentation., • Familiarity with cranes, HVAC systems, compressors, welding equipment, plasma cutting equipment, power distribution systems, and industrial production machinery., • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and their integration with electrical controls., • Understanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, transformer configurations, and industrial power systems., • Knowledge of electrical safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and applicable electrical codes and standards., • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills., • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair documentation., • Ability to work independently, lead complex troubleshooting efforts, and support team members as needed., • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational reliability.
