Job Title: Donor Relations Officer Job purpose: The Donor Relations Officer plays a pivotal role in advancing Translational Pulmonary Immunology Research Center's (TPIRC’s) mission by cultivating and securing significant philanthropic investments through a variety of fundraising channels, including individual gifts, grants, direct response, legacy giving and special events. Focusing on identifying, soliciting and stewarding high-capacity donors, major gift contributors and donor prospects to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organization. The Donor Relations Officer strengthens donor loyalty and drives substantial contributions to support TPIRC's initiatives through strategic relationship building, event planning and targeted engagement strategies. Collaborating with team members, this role also contributes to the overall success of the organization’s fundraising goals. This position is dedicated to finding innovative ways to keep existing supporters informed of campaign progress and to seek new support. Duties and Responsibilities: • The Donor Relations Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 150+ donors and prospects, including individuals, foundations and corporations., • Research and identify new funding opportunities for donor prospects emerging from campaigns, foundations, corporations and individuals., • Expand the donor pipeline and network by uncovering untapped relationships, prospects/new major donors and cultivating interest in TPIRC's mission., • This is a front-line fundraising role with a special focus on identifing, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding and providing strategic guidance in executing events aimed at upgrading existing and attracting new donors, to support the high-capacity donors ($1 million+), and major gift donors ($50,000 - $999,999) as well as qualified donor prospects ($1,500+)., • Develop personal and close-working relationships with high-net-worth individuals to engage them in the process of donor cultivation and stewardship., • Enhance donor engagement and loyalty with existing donors, families and organizations by leveraging strategic relationship-building and personalized stewardship to increase giving., • Conduct regular donor meetings (virtual and in-person), using storytelling and tailored messaging to articulate TPIRC's mission, research and giving opportunities., • Research, gather, analyze and synthesize information from sources such as online searches, databases and files to acquire new donor prospects., • Conduct 20 or more personalized engagement actions/attempts per month with donors & prospects with a goal of 80-144 face-to-face or virtual donor meetings annually., • Maintain accurate, meticulous and up-to-date records of donor interactions and contributions in compliance with departmental standards (updating the database with call notes and new information about donors) regarding donor cultivation, recognition, solicitation and stewardship., • Successfully organize, produce and manage 3 to 4 key donor cultivation events per year., • Provide monthly meticulous reports that accurately reflect donor cultivation and performance progress towards fundraising goals to the Director of Philanthropy, in compliance with departmental standards, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives., • Create and implement targeted engagement strategies to effectively reach prospective donors., • Prepare and present proposals to secure major gifts., • Meet agreed-upon fundraising goals by identifying and working with major gift prospects through successful gift closings., • Analyze donor engagement data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, to optimize fundraising efforts., • Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams to foster, strategize, nurture and secure high-impact donors and set fundraising goals., • Stay informed on major gifts fundraising and philanthropy trends and best practices., • Participate in all TPIRC events and activities, demonstrating the ability to be a proactive collaborator and team builder., • Execute innovative methodologies and best practices in major gift fundraising to significantly contribute to the sustainability and growth of our mission., • Attend all department events and activities., • Maintain communication with high-capacity and major donors, ensuring that all information is disseminated on a regular basis., • Bachelor’s Degree required, • Minimum of 5-10 years of strategic, major gifts, fundraising, development, or Philanthropy experience is a must, • Comfortable in fast-paced environments and medical settings, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, • Successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding high net-worth individuals, • Detail-oriented (meets deadlines), strong organizational abilities and project management skills, • Committed to the mission, willing to travel and work flexible hours, and be dedicated to donor and patient confidentiality, • Exceptional orator, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team player with proven ability to build and manage relationships, • Ability to plan and strategize 1-2 years ahead, • Willingness to assist with activities that take place at night or on weekends, • Must be an innovative self-starter who thrives in a dynamic fundraising setting, • Confident and skillful handling of clients in person and on the phone While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to walk between multiple office locations that include the use of stairs (elevator is only available in some instances).
