Job DescriptionController - Confidential Opportunity Role Overview A well-established, profitable organization in the construction and design-build sector is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This is a highly visible, hands-on role overseeing the full accounting function in a multi-divisional environment, with direct partnership alongside executive leadership. The ideal candidate is a strategic yet operationally strong Controller who thrives in a structured, in-office environment and wants to be a true game changer, helping elevate systems, controls, and financial visibility across the organization. Key Responsibilities • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department, supervising a team of accounting professionals, • Oversee all financial reporting, including monthly closings, job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and variance analysis, • Prepare and manage annual budgets, reforecasts, and cash flow planning, • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, • Reconcile job cost, WIP, and general ledger accounts in a construction accounting environment, • Manage all tax filings, including corporate, payroll, sales, and gross receipts taxes across applicable jurisdictions, • Coordinate with external partners including banks, auditors, insurance brokers, and retirement plan administrators, • Oversee payroll, insurance policies, contracts, leases, and business licenses, • Implement and maintain strong internal controls, treasury management, and risk mitigation practices, • Provide regular financial insight and reporting to senior leadership, • Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance cultureRequirements, • Minimum 10 years of overall accounting experience, • At least 5 years of construction accounting experience, including job cost and WIP, • Prior experience in a multi-entity or multi-divisional environment, • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's degree a plus), • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, • Experience implementing or improving accounting systems and processes, • Working knowledge of S-Corp tax structures, • Ability to design and implement treasury and risk management controls, • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders, • Prior public accounting experience (Regional or Big 4) is a plus, but not requiredCompensation & Benefits, • Base Salary: $190,000 - $225,000 (commensurate with experience), • Comprehensive benefits package including:, • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, • 401(k) with employer match, • Generous paid time off, • Life insurance (employer-paid), • HSA / FSA options, • Disability and supplemental insurance options, • Employee assistance and wellness programs, • Professional development opportunitiesAdditional Details, • Work Schedule: 100% onsite, five days per week, • Team Size: Accounting department of six professionals, • Reporting Line: Executive leadershipPay Details: $175,000.00 to $225,000.00 per year Search managed by: Jeffrey Kamberg Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Military connected talent encouraged to apply To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: • The California Fair Chance Act, • Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance, • Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, • San Francisco Fair Chance OrdinanceMassachusetts Candidates Only: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
