You should be a well-skilled hygienist who enjoys developing a personal rapport with patients that focuses on compassion and care. You should ensure that your work is thorough and that your patients are comfortable. You will take digital x-rays and intra-oral photographs, enter information in the patient's chart, educate patients on prevention and treatment of periodontal disease, and perform preventative care, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing. Responsibilities • Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination, • Sterilize dental instruments properly, • Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history, • Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis, • Clean and help protect patients teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride), • Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques), • Take X-rays as necessary, • Assist dentist with monitoring for oral lesions (including oral cancer), • Maintain documentation and charts on each patient, • Monitor suppliesSkills, • Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role (ideally), • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA), • Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment, • Outstanding communication skills, • A patient and friendly personality, • Attention to detail, • Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job, • Diploma in Dental Hygiene, • Valid license to practiceJob Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour Benefits: • Employee discount, • Paid time off, • Retirement plan
