Our team is committed to improving the quality of life for the community members we serve. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Family Physician, based in San Diego County, CA. The Family Physician will provide comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages, including primary care, family medicine, urgent care, and preventative care services. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating various health conditions, promoting community health initiatives, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. The role also involves maintaining patient records and adhering to clinical protocols. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides medical care to patients within the scope of his/her licensure and in accordance with community standards of care. * Determine which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs and determine level of urgency. * Document all services in electronic health record according to policy. * Participate in quarterly peer review. * Observes and executes medical protocols, policies and procedures in compliance with AAAHC standards. * Participate in Quality Improvement Studies, management, and other patient care programs. * Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients. * Oversee mid-level staff to include but not limited to Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Resident Interns. * Maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff and patients. * Maintains compliance with all aspects of regulatory and funding requirements including, but not limited to OSHA, CLIA, Title 22, insurance agencies, etc. * Ability to work a flexible schedule may be required based on need. * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: * Community based medical practice and in health care delivery and clinical systems experience is preferred. * MD or DO degree with a California medical license to practice. * Board Certification in Family Medicine is required (or board eligibility certification, which must be obtained within one (1) year of employment in Family Medicine). * Must possess current and valid DEA registration. * Providers are required to obtain and maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. These certifications must be completed within the first four (4) weeks of employment. At the time of hire, providers who do not yet possess ACLS and/or PALS certification must, at a minimum, hold a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to begin employment. * Must be sensitive to Native American culture and values. * Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of modern medicine related to public health services; structure and functions of public health organizations. * General knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to public health. * Familiarity with managed care systems. LICENSE REQUIREMENT * A valid driver's license will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. * Applicant must be insurable under SIHC vehicle insurance policy at the time of hire and throughout employment. * Certifications and/or licenses appropriate to the position's required education and profession must be valid and maintained. SKILLS * Strong supervisory, leadership, team building, interpersonal, and organizational skills. * Ability to establish and maintain effective peer relationships with coworkers within the Medical Department, clinic-wide, and the public. * Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and address audiences effectively. * Strong decision-making and judgment skills. * Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiative, and function in a rapidly changing environment. * Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds and resolve conflicts, negotiate situations, and facilitate consensus. CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Must be responsible, exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, and communicate professionally and courteously. Must maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively as part of a team. Sensitivity to client needs is essential. PHYSICAL AND PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS Normal clinic/office environment. Sit or stand for long periods. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs. Perform repetitive hand movements and use/view a computer. Reliable transportation and car insurance required. Travel as needed. COMPLIANCE Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture at SIHC. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all policies and procedures, participate in mandatory compliance training, and report violations or suspected violations. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Applicants must successfully pass pre-screening, including a tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a blood/urine drug screening test. Health must be adequate to perform all duties. Applicant must complete SIHC Application and Authorization Form prior to the close date.
