Overall Summary: The Sanitation Lead will ensure a safe and clean working environment by company standards and regulatory requirements. This role will supervise and coordinate the Sanitation Shift personnel and ensure that daily assignments are completed. Work as a team member with other department supervisors/managers to enforce the Food Safety Program and coordinate with the QC Department that corrective actions regarding sanitation are accomplished to ensure that the highest quality product is being provided to our customers. Position Responsibilities: • Ensure a safe work environment., • Assist in training new employees, • Lead team by example and give direction if needed, • Observe and report all activities to the supervisor Manager, • Assist others with technical questions, • Assist others to ensure the equipment has been set correctly for sanitation activities., • Lead will need to direct and instruct sanitation personnel and assist in overseeing housekeeping personnel., • Lead will coordinate the daily activities to keep the plant clean and in safe working conditions., • Assign daily tasks to sanitation and housekeeping personnel and document all completed work on the “Master Sanitation Schedule.”, • Lead needs to monitor the trash compactor and assist production with the waste compactor when needed., • Lead helps to keep an inventory of chemicals and sanitation supplies., • Lead needs to manage and keep equipment and tools., • Monitor chemical and equipment usage., • Ensure all employees are trained on chemical, basic GMP, and job training before assigning tasks., • Ability to resolve problems as they occur within the department, • Must be able to communicate with other departments and Managers regarding issues that occur from shift to shift., • Bring forth new ideas regarding Sanitation., • Promote company policy and philosophy., • Supervise employee cleaning assignments, inspect areas to ensure cleaning assignments have been completed, and give cleaning recommendations if deficiencies are found., • Review all department paperwork and forms such as shift change format, Master Sanitation Schedule, training logs, weekly safety training, etc., • Act as a backup to the supervisor during the absence., • Wash corn cook and process room, room with chemicals, • Backfill open sanitation needs – do the physical work when needed, • Report and address any discipline issues, • Responsible for the completion of an assigned area during wash downs – corn room and packaging room, • Understand and execute sanitation SSOP’s, • Work in collaboration with the Manager and other Sanitation leads to review SSOPs and improve them if necessary., • Assist with Emergencies in the plant, such as evacuations and drills, and have the knowledge to use fire extinguishers if necessary Requirements: Position Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills, • Be able to read and follow written procedures, • Proven attention to detail, responsible, mature, self-motivated, • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, basic English is required, • High school diploma or equivalent is a plus, • Schedule – must be able to rotate shifts if required and back up co-workers when needed, including weekends.
